Forever

"I'll love you forever"

he told her

"Forever"

she replied

And together

they walked

holding hands

side by side

she got butterflies

every time 

she looked

into his eyes

Adrenaline

coursed through him

whenever

she walked by

But suddenly

one normal day

as he kissed her again

he didn't feel the 

fire

she didn't

understand

The butterflies had

disappeared

were gone without

a trace

not even when 

she held his hand

or looked 

into his face

"I don't feel it anymore"

the girl said gloomily

"Forever didn't last

not for you

and me"

And so they 

left

they parted ways

and never

realized

although the feelings

vanished

as did the butterflies

their love had

not disappeared

no it was still 

alive

had they committed 

stayed 

pursued

the fiery

butterflies

it would have 

become clear to them

that love isn't 

a thing you

feel

it's the action

in the word

that makes the feeling

real

and so it was

that they lost

what could have

been forever

and traded for

a fleeting

feeling

that wasn't worth it

whatsoever
