they comforted the birthing woman as a doctor helped with the actual process, telling her what to do. mr. kim simply observed.
he held his wife's hand, well, she held his with a surprisingly strong death grip. their palms quickly became clammy and hot.
mr. kim kept whispering encouraging comments to his wife of just over a year. he was scared to death of how women could ever want to go through such an experience. he didn't get it.
"honey, you're almost there. i love you."
he gulped as mrs. kim let out her last moan before her body went limp of exhaustion.
silence filled the room until a little cry echoed.
"congratulations, mrs. and mr. kim. it's a girl."
