My piggy bank can't afford a gym membership
If you're like me and a relatively lazy teen without a job or allowance, you'll find being fit a difficult thing to do. Gym memberships require you to pay monthly. DVD workouts and equipment also cost something. There's also the biggest issue, your parents, who might argue that you are too young. You may be too young to workout, but you're never too young to be fit.
Now, the message here is not to disobey your parents because I say it’s okay. What I'm trying to say is you don't need to go to the gym and do hardcore cardio and weight lifting. No, to be fit you can do things that are all right for your age like yoga, dance, and pilates. Just jog around the neighborhood, walk your dog, join a sport. There are many things that can keep you fit that even your parents will tolerate.
I've recently discovered working out 1 hour everyday is only 4% of your day. Shocking, right? Everyday you need at least 30 - 45 minutes of exercise; meaning your heart rate should be up that whole time to get a good workout in and keep your fitness levels up. Your PE class isn't even that long. Guess what that means? You'll have to be doing some work outside of school.
There are a lot of workouts free on youtube. Here are a few I suggest:
For people who enjoy pilates, try Pop Pilates on youtube. The woman who does the workouts is super fun and energetic and will make you sweat with a smile on your face.
I also suggest the Toneitup girls Karena and Katrina who give some awesome videos to "tone it up" :)
A weight loss blog I enjoy reading is Undressed Skeleton on tumblr. Granted, she's a little too thin now (even she has admitted that she needs to GAIN weight), but she has an inspirational story of how she started and got to where she is now. Read her biography and be touched.
For those who love to dance you've probably heard of Zumba. If you're looking for something really intense try Jillian Michaels videos. This can be found on youtube as well.
Does your friend have a gym membership? If so, see if they are allowed to bring a free friend. Be warned, if you are under 18 you WILL need a parent signature (They literally just come in, sign the sheet, and leave). After that you can come in with your friend any time you want :D
