I was running along an overgrown path with 7 other soldiers. We were headed to one of the outposts stationed here. I pumped my legs as fast as they could go.
The icy terrain was difficult to run in and a sharp crack sound rebounded through the tree line.

Three more shots were fired. We couldn't stop running. We had to make it to the outpost . The smell of iron pored into my nose.  The smell of gunpowder. The smell of blood. For the first time since we had been running, I looked behind me. Two of the soldiers who had been behind me were now just two lumps on the ground, getting smaller with each step I took. The first man was John Kalhoon a Warrant officer. He had a small pool of crimson liquid pouring from a wound on his right shoulder blade. The second man was Rupert Sims he was a airman, first class. Shot in the head.

This war was something I would dred most of all. My life was worthless if I couldn't save anyone. My years of schooling and Practice would put to the test. I needed him, my Daniel. To see his face in a time like this would be extraordinary. I hope he's safe.

"In Gods name," I prayed aloud, "Let him still be alive."
