Chapter Twenty Seven - News
*Louis' Point of View*
I gripped the wheel of Zayn's black Ferrari. I never liked this car. It was way too flashy for me. Driving through North Carolina in a sleek, black, 280,000 dollar Ferrari was basically like begging to be followed. I slowly pressed on the gas. I was the only one on the dark freeway. The probability that cops were out was slim. And even if they were, I had a legitimate reason to be speeding. My best mate had been kidnapped.
As I drove to the airport to pick up Liam and Niall, about a million thoughts flew through my head. Firstly, Fizzy had called to tell me two things. One; Lottie was engaged. Two; Eleanor was pregnant. Very pregnant. In fact, she was due any day. She had managed to hide it from me before she got married. And she wanted to name it after me. Louis LeBlanc. It didn't go very well, in my opinion. Too many L's.
Lottie had gotten engaged to her on-and-off boyfriend, Matthew...who happened to be Harry's cousin. Akwardness level has officially risen even more. Yet, if anyone had reason to be angry because of their engagement, it was me. She was my little sister. She was barely eighteen and she was engaged. It just wasn't right! I mean, isn't the oldest supposed to get married first? I let out an angry growl and tried to shake the thought of someone laying their hands on my little Lottie.
Secondly, Liam and Danielle were also getting married and having a child. How crazy was that? My best mate was having a kid. I was very happy for them. Liam and I even cried when he finally picked up the courage to tell me. Naturally, I was the last to find out. Liam said it was only because I had left when Danielle decided to tell everyone.
Thirdly, Harry was missing. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether I should have been happy that he was finally away from Charlotte and now I could have her for myself. I slapped myself. That was a horrible thing to think. I missed Harry. I wished things could go back to the way they were before any of this mess happened. When we found them kissing in the ocean was when things began falling apart for me. That's when Charlotte truly caught my eye; that blasted night. And a few weeks after that, everything started falling apart, starting with Taylor. First Taylor, then Charlotte, then I admitted my love, then I lost my best mate, and then everything finally crumbled.
I lifted my foot off of the gas as I slowly approached the exit to the airport. As I drove the long winding road and parked in the garage, I began to get a little tense. I hadn't spoken to Niall or Liam in a while. Like really spoken to them. The airport was in Charlotte, which was a bit far from Long Beach. At least two hours. How could I stand two hours in the car without being judged in some way?
I walked slowly into the airport, my fingers tapping in the pockets of my leather jacket. I walked towards the gate where Liam and Niall were supposed to come out of. I glanced around. It seemed familiar. Then, it came to me.
This was the gate that Charlotte and Andy met us at when we were coming back from New York.
I took in a deep breath, trying to push away the memory of us arriving and Charlotte hugging me tightly when she saw me. The memory quickly fast forwarded to the point when I saw Harry kissing her. My hands clenched into fists. My mouth turned into one sharp line. I tried to think about anything, just to calm myself down. Hippos, ponies, shopping. Anything.
"Louis!" a familiar voice shouted. I looked up and Niall slammed right into me. My arms quickly wrapped around him as he squeezed me tightly. He finally let go and I was able to exchange embraces with Liam as well.
