"Your Majesty, it's a girl." The midwife whispered and handed Queen Asilinn her newborn child. It was her first. The baby was crying, although quietly. The Queen sighed and ran her hand across her baby's small, newborn, head. Then a sharp pain overtook her once more. Then there were hands taking her child away as she was told to push again. She screamed. She wailed and her husband came crashing into the room. "What's going on in here?!" He bellowed, his face red with anger. And then he saw his child. His child with light blue eyes and a scattering of the blondest hair he had ever seen, just like his and Asilinn's. The King, Desatarius, instantly fell in love with his little girl, but he was quickly pulled into his wife's screams again. "Sire, she is having another child! Twins!" The midwife answered and told Asilinn to push as hard as she could. Desatarius became queasy at the sight. They had not planned to have any children. Much less twins. The second child came feet first. And she tore Asilinn, badly. Desatarius held his first child closely to his chest as the midwife cleaned up the second. Her eyes were green. A deep, emerald, green that pierced ones soul. And the small amount of hair that she had on the top of her head was as black as the night. The Queen was unconscious on the bed and his first child was fussing in his arms. Desatarius had not yet held the second. He had not wanted to. He sat next to his incoherent wife in a chair and hummed to his newborn child, his heir that would take the throne one day.
Asilinn awoke in a sticky sweat, her blonde hair darkened and matted to her face. "Des..." she whispered and there was a hollow sigh in response. He knew. "Desatarius please-" he stood and turned away from her, "Let me explain!" He didn't bother to face her as he said, "You need rest Asilinn. I will come see you when you are better." He said blankly and walked out, his child in his arms. She was too tired to fight at the moment. She was too tired to tell him the absolute truth about the children she just birthed.
"My Queen?" The maid stuck her head into the door of the room, and then entered, a small bundle of blankets in her arms, "Would you like to hold your second child?" Asilinn nodded and held out her arms, "Please? Please bring her to me Alys?" The maid quickly made her way to her Queen, handing her the small child wrapped in softest blue blankets. "Thank you very much Alys." Asilinn whispered and her eyes started to water as she beheld her baby. Her dark haired baby. A baby that would be lucky to live. Lucky to stay in the castle. She started to sob at the though. Asilinn pushed the baby harshly back into Alys's arms. "Y-Your Majesty?" Alys stammered and looked from the child in her arms, to Asilinn. The Queen of Keylon just cried, horrible, breathtaking, sobs. So Alys left the room and went to find the King.
"I don't want it." Desatarius stated as Alys entered the room. He turned away from the maid who held the child out to him. "But Sire, the Queen-" he put his hand up and waved her off. "But Sire," she whispered, "she is your child, just as well as the other is." His face heated and he swung around to face her, "THAT," Desatarius pointed to the baby Alys held, "is not my child!" He screamed. Alys shrank away and held the baby close to her chest protectively. "That, black haired, green eyed, demon is not mine. And I want nothing to do with it!" He stormed out of the room and left Alys standing there, shivering in fear for a baby who didn't even have a name.
