Warriors: The Next Prophecy

Chapter 2

     Three moons had passed since Starkit and his sister explored their clan leaders den. Brightstar had not seemed to care that some kits were in his den and he never mentioned it, which relieved Starkit.

Starkit woke up before his sister and padded outside the nursery. With nothing better to do he went over to the apprentices den seeing that Sparrowpaw, and Tumblepaw weren't in the den.

"Probably on the dawn patrol," Starkit thought. He looked at the corner of the den and saw Nutpaw staring at him.

"What are you doing in here?" she asked, "your not an apprentice yet."

Starkit suddenly remembered that today he would become a apprentice. Starkit thought about what he would when he had a mentor. "We can battle train, or go hunting!" Starkit thought excited.

He exited the den quickly, without even saying goodbye to Nutpaw. Running back to the nursery to wake up his sister, his path was blocked by a bigger cat.

Seeing a brown pelt with stripes going down it, Starkit knew exactly who this was. "Father, guess what?" Starkit asked bouncing up and down.

"Your going to become an apprentice today," Quickstripe mowed as a reply.

"YES I'M SOOOOO EXCITED!" Starkit couldn't stop bouncing up and down.

"Quiet, we don't want to wake the rest of the clan," Quickstripe told him. "I heard that in the afternoon is when we will have your ceremony, just be quiet till then okay."

"Okay," Starkit whispered. He scampered off to the nursery. Looking at his sister and mother he decided he would do a little prank to Sapphirekit.

Laying down next to his sister, Starkit licked his right paw so much that it was soaking wet. He looked at Sapphirekit and plunged his paw right into her ear.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH," she cried shaking her ear as she woke up. Her yelp woke Emberflame up and she glared at him.

"What in the name of Starclan are you doing!!!" his mother growled. Starkit looked down, "I was just doing a little prank, because its the day we become apprentices.

"Oh my I totally forgot we must get you two ready!" she told them. Picking up Sapphirekit she started cleaning her licking her pelt smooth.

     By the time Emberflame had cleaned up Starkit and Sapphirekit, it was already afternoon.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, join here beneath high mound for a clan meeting," Brightstar's yowl spread across camp, summoning every cat.

As the cats gathered under high mound, Brightstar summoned the two excited kits with a flick of his tail. They sat beside him.

He nodded to Sapphirekit indicating that she stand forward. She obeyed, stepping in front of their leader.

"Sapphirekit you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed.  I see the courage you and your brother share, especially when you explored my den. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sapphirepaw. Your mentor will be, Quailwing. I hope he teaches you all his excellent wisdom and strength in battle, and passes it all on to you.

Brightstar placed his chin on top of Sapphirepaw's head and she licked his shoulder respectfully, she then turned around and touched noses with Quailwing, Who was a black and white tom with long legs and excellent battle moves.

Brightstar then beckoned Starkit with his tail and began reciting the words again. "Starkit you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Starpaw, Starclan honours your curiosity and courage, Your mentor will be, Bramblejaw. I hope he teaches all his hunting and fighting skills onto you so you will be an outstanding warrior.

Brightstar placed his chin on top of Starpaw's head and he licked his shoulder respectfully, Starpaw then turned around and touched noses with Bramblejaw, who was a very muscular tom who already had apprenticed another cat before.

Starpaw's new mentor lead him to the bottom of High mound where his sister was waiting, The clan then called, "Sapphirepaw, Starpaw, Sapphirepaw, Starpaw," Starpaw felt his chest puff up with pride as he watched Fireclan cheer his new name.
