There was no possibility of taking a walk that day. It was raining and I didn't want to get wet, so instead I decided to spy on my cousins and aunt whilst thinking about how depressing my life was.

"Jane Eyre" cried out a dismayed voice behind me "stop being a weird little child and go do something else!" I turned and saw Bessie staring at me.

"Oh why does nobody love me?!" I sobbed, and dramatically flung my arms behind me and ran into another room. I sat down on the window seat, hidden behind a curtain. I sat for a while, thinking about how depressed I was, before picking up and continuing the book I was reading. It was an absolutely riveting read and I couldn't put it down; it was Bewick's History of British Birds. I loved looking at all the pictures and imagining myself anywhere but in this awful house where no-one loved me. I imaged myself sailing on a boat, far away from everyone so I could be alone not just in spirit (like I am now, for no-one understands me) but also physically. I do not need anyone to look after me. I am a perfectly capable child who could fend for herself, and I don't need any negativity in my life - and that's the tea!

"What did you just say?" a voice snapped at me, and John Reed whipped back the curtain. Oops, I must've said it out loud!

"I said 'and that's the tea!'" I replied. John looked disgusted.

"I heard what you said! You're such a you-tuber wannabe"

"Shut up, John! You don't understand me!"

"How dare you speak to me like that! It's Master Reed to you!" I looked at his ugly face. He was fourteen, but much too short and fat for his age. All he ever did was eat, eat, eat. In fact, he was doing it at that very moment. Cake crumbs surrounded his mouth, and he spat them out as he spoke to me. Suddenly, he reached out and slapped me in the face.

"That was for being rude to my mummy, you ugly little rat!"I looked down at his Jake Pauler t-shirt and sighed.

"What were you doing anyway? Crying because you're so depressed? Pathetic girl!"

"Actually, I was reading about birds" I replied with confidence

"Reading? I didn't know you could read" he marched over and picked up the book. He squinted at the title, trying to read it, but then gave up, instead saying "You have no right taking our books! You're poor, and mummy says you have no money. All you do is take ours and then complain about it! Now I'll teach about reading my books, because they are mine, or they will be in a few years, because I am the man of the house, so everything will go to me!" He raised his arm, and, too late I realised what he was going to do. He threw the book as hard as he could, whilst yelling "YEET!". As if him saying that wasn't bad enough, it actually hit me in the head.

"Ow!! You are a stupid little boy! You are like a murderer, or Donald Trump!"

"You what?! OMG! Eliza and Georgiana, did you hear her! I'm going to tell mummy what you said, but first-" he then proceeded to charge at me, but I punched him in the face. His predominately large head flew back and he cried out, blood running down his face. I laughed, but Mrs Reed came running in with Eliza and Georgiana.

"What have you done you stupid girl! My poor precious boy!" She shuffled towards him and wrapped her arms around him dramatically, as he sobbed. "You are much too passionate! You must not show any emotions in my house. Take her to the red-room immediately! And lock her in!" I was dragged away, and the last thing I saw was John looking me dead in the eye, whilst doing that stupid fornite dance. I cringed so hard that I nearly fainted.
