Damian POV
Flashback:

Brrringggg!

"Hey, did you hear about the buzzer beater Damian made at last night's game?" One of Damian's friends, Nick, inquired.

"I heard he's getting scholarships from colleges already just for his basketball," said his friend.

"I didn't think I'd live to see the day this happened I mean come on, freshman year?" Nick sarcastically remarked.

The truth is he knew that Damian had been receiving offers since he first layed his hands on a basketball. This whole buzz is nothing new to him.

But his friend didn't get the message.

"Hey, just between you and me, I also heard his dad was bribing coaches for a chance at a college recruit... I mean with that kind of money..."

Nick snapped in sudden anguish. Everyone knows that Damian is the sin of billionaire Eric Falton. And for that reason they just assumed that he was some sort of spoiled rich kid, but he wasn't. Not at all.

"Shut the hell up. You know nothing about him, nothing at all," Nick barked.

His friend stood still in the middle of the school hallway then appealed.

"Yeah well what I do know is the guy has a whole city named after him, and if that's not a sign that he's rich then I don't know what is?"

"You're pathetic," Nick scoffed. Then walked away...

"You see I'm not exactly who you think I am," I tried to whisper to Kay as we walked to the training room.

I didn't want Alex, who was walking in front of us, to overhear me talking about my past to some stranger.

After all, I never talk about my past. I just think Kay should know it in order to understand where I'm coming from and that we are for her and not againat her.

"What do you mean?" She whispered back as if she understood I was trying to avoid anyone hearing us.

I could feel her looking up at me as we made a sharp right.

"You see..." I repeated hesitantly. This is stupid I shouldn't tell her. Even if I did she wouldn't understand.

I finally decided to look at her. My mind was telling me to switch the subject, but my gut told me no. She has to know.

"My father owns the city," I confessed. She stopped in her tracks. Dammit I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

"Pardon?" She asked drawn back in confusion.

"My father owns this city...which is why he named it after me," I paused then continued.

"My name is Damian."

At that moment I could see her face turn from confusion to fear then to pure frustration. I found it somewhat amusing.

"So you're saying...your father was the one who turned this place to SHIT?"

The last word echoed through the halls which caused Alex to stop in her tracks. She practically asked for Alex's attention.

She turned back with her eyes looking at me then Kay then back at me.

"Anything wrong?" She asked uneasily.

I sighed.

"No!" Kay and I both shouted in unison.

I pulled Kay to the side then whispered  into her ear.

"Look, you wanted me to explain so. let. me. explain."
