Everything had happened so fast. She would always remember Robin's voice, begging Hades to use the crystal on him and not on Regina. Because he knew. He knew that when sacrificing himself, he would not only save Regina's life but also the life of their unborn child. All of this, Regina thought about it every single day. She had this strange feeling that everything was just a dream.. a bad dream that she would soon wake up from, in the arms of the man that she loved.. But everything was real, and Robin would never wake up. He wouldn't be by Regina's side during her pregnancy, or when she would bring their child into this world. Their child, they had wished and waited for it for so long.. And during her whole pregnancy, Regina never stopped thinking of all these moments as a family that they would never have.. that had been violently taken away from them.—
One morning, Regina was almost 3 months pregnant and had to go back in her office for the first time since that horrible day when she lost the man that she loved, at the exact same place where she looked into his beautiful blue eyes for the last time. David and Emma had gone with her to look for some important files for the sheriff station. She hadn't been prepared for such a strong emotion. She thought that she would be strong. But so many memories were still in this room. Like the day she had announced to Robin that they were going to have a baby, at last.. — Regina closed her eyes, and remembered..
It was a Sunday evening, by the fire. Just like they did quite often, Robin and Regina were enjoying a picnic in the Mayor's office. Everything was strangely calm and quiet in the little town of Storybrooke. Regina had been very clear that tonight was very special and that if anyone dared to interrupt them, they would see their heart being the next one to be added to the Queen's collection. So, the couple was now eating what Regina had prepared for them, it being accompanied by a glass of wine to which Regina had obviously not touched. "Tell me, love.. What was so important about tonight?" Robin asked after a moment. In fact, the question was more ; what was so important about tonight for Regina to threaten the entire town if they dared to interrupt them? "Do you remember this important appointment that I had outside the town, the other day?" Regina asked while looking at the thief who simply nodded his head, not really getting what this had to do with his question. He had imagined that this famous appointment had something to do with Regina's job as Mayor. "I sort of lied to you.. Well, not really, it's more like I hid the truth from you. I did have an important appointment outside the town, but not for what you imagine.. It was an appointment at the hospital. Of course, I could've gone to Storybrooke's hospital, but I couldn't risk anyone finding out about it." Regina explained, leaving Robin at a complete loss of words. "Robin?" She asked after a moment. "Are you.. Are you sick ?" Robin asked an instant later. "Not exactly.. but I will be for the next couple of months." Regina started, taking one of Robin's hands to then place it on her stomach. "I'm pregnant, Robin." She then followed as her eyes filled with tears, just like Robin's did. None of them said anything ; but Robin kissed her as if it was the very last time.

Regina opened her eyes again and looked around her. This room in which she had been so many times now seemed so empty.. and yet so full of memories of Robin. "Regina? Is everything okay?" She heard someone ask her. It was Emma. "It's.. It's the first time I've been back here.. Since Robin died." Regina then admitted. Emma and David looked at each other, knowing that nothing that they could say would ever make her feel better. After all, how do you even make someone feel better when one half of their soul had literally been ripped away from them?

Some time passed, Regina announced her pregnancy to everyone when it became impossible for her to continue to hide it. She was quite surprised by the amount of support that she was getting from her family and her friends. Of course, she knew that they would support her and help her just like they did when she lost Robin, but she didn't know how much. Snow and Emma accompanied her to every ultrasound, held her hand and gave her tons of advice about pregnancy, giving birth and so many other things. And she was also really helped with the baby's room. In fact, Henry had insisted for the room's decoration to stay a surprise for her, and everyone had rapidly gotten to work. Since they had started a bit late, the room had been done around the last two weeks of Regina's pregnancy. She had been dying to know what they had done with it. And she was not disappointed when she discovered it. As she walked into the nursery, she couldn't help but gasp a little bit. Everything was just so beautiful, with a theme of the forest and fairytales. Marco had built a magnificent crib that he had been working on for months, without Regina knowing. Henry was probably behind that, too. On the wall were painted the words 'Once Upon a Time', and a mobile was hanging above the crib. It was made of fake little arrows and feathers and was simply perfect. "Oh my God.." Regina whispered as she stood in the middle of the room. "I know, we've done a pretty good job." Emma said with a proud smile on her face, making Regina chuckled a little bit. "No.. I mean, yes, everything is absolutely perfect, but.. I think my water just broke." Regina replied with a small smile. And a few hours later, she finally heard the first cries of her newborn baby. Of course, the first person allowed to enter the room had been Henry, and as he did so, Regina looked at him with a bright smile on her face ; one that Henry hadn't seen in so long and had missed so much. "Mom." He said quietly, the same smile appearing on his own face. "Henry, come closer.. Meet your little sister." Regina said softly as Henry came and sat down next to her. "She's beautiful. And really tiny." He said, clearly amazed by the newborn's size. Regina chuckled slightly. "That, she is." She then said. "How are you feeling, mom?" The young boy asked after a moment. "Exhausted. And.. feeling like two people are missing." Regina replied. Henry nodded his head. "I know. They should be here. And Roland should be able to meet our little sister, too." He said and it was Regina's turn to nod her head. Indeed.. he should be.

A couple of days later, Regina had been able to leave the hospital with her daughter and as soon as she did, Snow had started throwing a little party at Granny's for her to announce the baby's name to everyone. But before that, Regina had wished to go to another place, alone with her little girl. "Hello, my love." She said with a certain emotion in her voice as she kneeled in front of Robin's grave, their daughter sleeping peacefully in her arms. "Snow insisted to have a party thrown to announce our daughter's name.. You know how she is." She then said with a small laugh. "But.. I wanted you to be the first one to hear it. Her name is Hope." She announced as a small smile appeared on her face. "Because that's what she gave me from the second that she came into this world. Hope that everything will be alright.. Even if you're not here." She explained as her eyes filled with tears. "I promise to look after our children just like you look after us from wherever you are, my love."

The next day, Snow decided to pay a little visit to Regina to see how things were going with little Hope. They started to talk about everything. "Oh, and Neal started walking, yesterday. You should've seen how proud David was! And I just couldn't stop crying." Snow explain with a small laugh. Regina started thinking about how she and Robin would've reacted to Hope's first steps. They would've probably been trying to make her walk for hours, and obviously, being stubborn just like her mother, Hope would've surprised them when they weren't looking. Regina would've then yelled at Robin to take the camera to record it but he wouldn't have managed to turn it on in time. He had never really been good at all this technology.. "Regina? Are you okay?" Snow suddenly asked, snapping her out of her thoughts. Regina realised that she hadn't been listening to a single word that she had said and nodded her head. "Yeah, I just.. I just think about Robin and Roland a lot, lately. Even more since Hope was born." Regina explained and Snow gave her a small smile. It was true that Regina also thought about Roland a lot. She would give anything for him to be here with them. Or for them to be with him..

Robin and Regina had just entered the Mayor's office. They heard the cries of a baby ; their baby. They ran to the infant wrapped in pink blankets. "Your father's here. And everything's gonna be alright.." Robin said in a reassuring tone as he took the baby in his arms before placing her in her mother's, who kissed the little girl's forehead just like he then kissed hers, wrapping his arms around them. Suddenly, Hades was pointing at them with the crystal. Or more like he was pointing at Regina and the baby. Robin quickly got in front of them. "No! Use that on me, you let her go!" He begged Hades. "Robin, NO!" Regina yelled. But it was too late. A flash of light hit Robin and..
Regina's eyes flew open, her heart beating fast in her chest. She quickly got out of her bed, put on some clothes and left for the Charmings' apartment with Hope in her stroller. "Regina? It's late, is everything okay?" Snow asked, half asleep and a little bit worried as she let Regina in. "I had a nightmare about Robin's death again. But this time, Hope was already born and he was protecting us both and.. I promised him to look after our children just like he looked after us.. and that includes Roland. I need to be by his side, and since he can't stay in Storybrooke.. I have to go back to him. Back in the Enchanted Forest." Regina explained, leaving Snow and David both in complete shock. "We all need to go back home."
