Delvin Mallory x Dragonborn
"How've ya been dear?" Delvins' cockney accent soothed my ears after a long day of thievery and dragon slaying, with his usual term of endearment tagged onto the end. "Could've been better, I got a new one," I mumbled, sitting down across from him at the rickety wooden table, "dunno what it is." I handed him a egg-like object, gilded with five jewels and ornamental gold; he grasped the trinket, turning it over in his hands to examine it. I watched his calculating hazel eyes as they studied the egg with zeal; before putting it into his burlap sack, and pulling a coin purse from his belt.
"Ere ya' go." He leaned over the table, palm extended towards me, "say luv, before ya head out again, feel like catching a drink wit me?" He motioned to the barkeep, eyes full of hopefulness. "What about you and Vex? Aren't you still pinning after her?"
"A man can tell when he aint wanted," he sneered, casting a glimpse over to vex, who sauntered over to the crowded bar and began fumbling around with the bar stool; attempting to pull the chair out, she missed the dusty cushion by a hair, and fell out on the floor (effectively busting her ass on the hardwood floor in the process. )
"Well I suppose I could use a drink, it's been forever since I've kicked my feet up," I paused to wave Vekel, the barkeep, over, "I'm not paying for the first round though."
Coming right over, vekel began to speak, "Hey Delv, what can I get for ya?" As vekel conversed with Mallory, I unfastened the latches on my helmet; setting the daedric helm on the creaky floorboards beside me, I watched as delvin finished ordering our drinks. Sending Vekel away to the bar, Delvin gazed at me as I tried desperately to unclasp my gauntlets, "Oi, need some 'elp?" He reached across the table, palm extended, with fingers grasping; he easily unlatched the clasp, then slipped the heavy ebony from my calloused hand before turning his attention to the other hand.
"So, what whatcha been up to?" Delv mumbled a pleasantry, and set the dented armored glove next to the other one on the table, I looked down at them; they could definitely use a trip to the blacksmith's bench. "Well let's see, I killed two dragons, got black out drunk, almost married a hagraven, trashed a temple, sold a goat to a giant, and got a shiny new staff that summons daedra, then on the way here, I cleared a spriggan infested clearing. " I rambled on about my adventures before removing my wistful gaze from him to look across the tavern; to eye vekel who, with two monstrous flagons of blackbriar reserve in hand, began to stalk towards our table. "Two dragons huh? Did ya take em on at the same time?" Though Delvin had made the comment in jest, I nodded, for it had in fact been two dragons at once, "and wait, you almost married a hagraven? " Thankfully Vekel arrived with our drinks, so I didnt have to answer the question right away; delv slipped him four gold pieces before returning his gaze to me.
"Its complicated, a tale for a long evening. " I mused, taking a sip of the biting ale, enjoying the way it lit a fire in the back of my throat, "which reminds me Delv, I got somethin' for you, I think you're going to like it." Setting my cup down with a thunk, I rummaged in my bag noisily. Pulling out a large dragon skull, fitted with flawless sapphires, emeralds and diamonds, I rubbed a scuff off of the crown, just above the eye socket, before handing it off to him.
"What's this?" he verbalized his awe while inspecting the trinket, turning it over in his hands. "I made it myself," I paused to down a gulp of reserve, "For you." I cast my eyes into the bottom of my cup, swirling the dark liquid around. "Its,...I...wow," I'd never heard him speechless before, it was a marvelous experience, "this is for me?" He acted as if no one had ever given him a gift before, the reality hit me that no one probably ever had. Tears brewed in the rim of my eyes, as I set down my tankard I stood up abruptly shoving the chair back loudly. He looked up at me in shock, eyes wide, mouth slightly agape.
