The next morning, I walk to my locker to see Reece and Samantha waiting for me. I walk up to them and give them a questioning look.
"I have the same class with you." Samantha says.
"I was talking to Samantha." Reece says.
I nod as I open my locker and grab the things I need. I turn back to them to see two other guys standing there.
"This is Danny and Josh." Reece says motioning to each one.
I wave shyly to the both of them.
They both answer with a hey, then Danny brings me into a hug. Well then. I was not expecting that.
"So I hear you don't talk." Danny says. Reece elbows him then Danny looks at him. "What? You told me she only signs." He says. So he's been talking about me? I look at Reece with a smirk plastered on my face.
Reece walks with Samantha and I to class. After that class, every class til lunch Samantha meets me outside and walks me to every class. She wants to help me remember my way to classes and jot get lost.
Suddenly a girl appears in front of us with a big smile on her face.
"Hi, I am Raven. I was just wondering if y'all would like to sit with my friends at lunch." She says. I nod my head and look over at Samantha and give her a questioning look and she nods her head too.
We walk to lunch with Raven. We get to the table and there are four other people there but only one catches my eye. Blue eyes are piercing right into mine.
We eat lunch and talk about whatever comes to mind, well, I write down on the notepad Reece gave me.
After lunch, Samantha walks me to the rest of my classes. She then decides to drive me home. Once I get home I change then start walking to the beach. I am glad we don't live far from the beach. Back in California we had a house right on the beach. I loved it. I would always go and sit by the water after school and do my homework. I would sometimes even fall asleep which cause mom to have to come and tell me to come home.
Once I get to the beach I take off my shoes then walk along the beach til I find some rocks going off into the water. I climb on top of the rocks then sit down. I then realise Reece is there laying on the rocks.
Reece grunts then sits up. He turns to look at me with that cold glare of his.
The water rushed into the rocks causing it to drench us in saltwater. I silently laugh at Reece because it startles him.
"Why do you always end up where I am? It is like you are following me." He says. I shrug my shoulders at him then look out at the water.
He got up and started walking along the beach then he plops down onto the sand. Do I bother him or something? The sun was starting to set, and it made beautiful colors.
I get up and start to walk back but then suddenly I trip and fall right on top of Reece, into his lap. If he hated me before then he is going to hate me even more. Reece just stares down at me and I stare back up at him.
He leans into me then our lips brush together. He puts his hands around me resting them on my back, he pushes our lips together and sparks explode in me. I have never kissed a guy, willingly anyway. Is this what it is supposed to feel like?
We pull away and a blush has crept onto my face. If he doesn't like me, then why did he kiss me?
"That was a mistake. I don't know why I did that." He grunts. Really? Fine.
I get up and start to walk away angrily, but he grabs my arm so I turn around so I am facing him. Then he looks down.
"Don't look so disappointed. It is too late for you to walk back by yourself. I am going to drive you." He says. We start walking to his car.
"So, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. But, why do you not talk anymore?" Reece questions. I stop in my tracks and look down. He has this effect on me that makes me want to tell him. I don't know why though. He hates me.
I start back walking and he walks there beside me. For some reason, I feel like I can trust him. But I never want to get close to him. I may have feelings for him, slightly, but I still think it is there.
No matter what, I can not let those feelings out. I can not get close to anyone. I will end up hurting or even dead in the end.
"I really want to tell you, but I can't." I sign.
"I didn't quite catch that." He sighs. I grab my note pad out of my bag and write on it.
"I can't tell you." I write.
"Alright, why can you not tell me?" He asks.
"You will be in danger. I don't want you to end up hurt or something." I write. He sighs, then opens his mouth to speak but closes it again.
"Does this have to do with what was wrong that one time?" He questions.
I nod my head and he looks at me understanding.
"Oh." He says. I nod at that then we are finally at my house.
I turn around and sign something to him and he watches my hands. Confusion comes across his face.
"Write it." He demands.
"Thanks for the ride." I write this time.
"Yeah, uh, sure." He says. I laugh at that.
"Yeah." I sign. I then realise no one is home. I really don't want to be alone. "Would you like to come in?" I write. He is confused again. So I point to him and my front door.
"Oh, yeah, no." He says. At that, he walks away. He could have said it nicer. Am I not being nice enough for him?
I begin making my food. Then I sit down and eat silently. It's not like I could make much noise anyway.
This boy makes me want to be able to talk again. Oh if I could talk. I miss being able to talk to people. I miss my voice.
"What are you thinking?" My brother comes in saying.
"Oh, nothing." I sign. He nods his head then picks up my plate and sets it in the sink.
I look through the mail on the table to see if the Sheriff has sent anything. I asked for him to send us letters when he wanted to tell us something so that the guy can not track me. I see the letter. I'll open it later.
I put the envelope back down and make sure to put another on the top. I don't want anyone seeing it.
We walk up the stairs to my room then we sit on my bed. We stay in silence for awhile until Jai decides to speak.
"Syana, are you okay?" He ask.
"I hate that I can not get close to anyone. I can't trust anyone" I sign. He sighs then nods his head.
"One day, you will be able to. But, I need to get to sleep now, so goodnight." He says. Coming close to me and kissing the top of my head.
I wait to hear his room door close but I couldn't even wait for him to get down the stairs before tears starts streaming down my face. I am tired of being scared. I just wish that guy would be caught.
