Chapter 4: Desire

Pregnancy is the weirdest phase I've been in, it's like I'm craving for something so bad but once it's on my hands I don't want it anymore. One thing I'm still craving is her attention, Sunny's attention.

I think she finally realised how much I wronged her right and decided to ghost me, even though she's driving the car with me to the checkup. I've tried to get her attention many times but she only replies with a maximum of two words.

And of course Rose hasn't been an ally in the backseat as she kept her eyes on me. She was sticking to Sunny everywhere she went, sitting on her lap, demanding back rides and stories, she even went to work with her!

Sunny didn't ever say no to her, she was like her slave. Rose was her priority, I can't complain though, the girl needs someone to take care of her after her mother's tragedy. Sunny did care for me too, she would ask me if I needed anything or if my back hurts. And most importantly she filled the freezer with ice cream.

I was staring at her attractive profile as she drove the car in silence, I can tell she didn't sleep with how tired she looked. I and Rose kept fighting yesterday and when she tried to calm us down we turned against her, she had to sleep on the couch all alone while it rained outside. I feel sorry for her, but excuse my hormones when I want her only to myself.

"We're here finally, that was a long ride." Sunny parked the car then turned the engine off. She got out taking Rose in her arms then helped me out, she held my hand as we walked to the hospital.

"I want to go to the park after we're done with her checkup." Rose tugged at the hand Sunny was holding mine with, I held it tighter and glared at her.

"No! Me and Sunny are shopping for our baby." I said pulling Sunny closer to me and circled both of my hands on her right arm. "She promised me."

Rose was going to argue but Sunny cut her off, "Rose you don't even like the park, and you'll start school tomorrow I'll wake you up early." She put her down to walk on her own when we were inside and held her hand. I was smiling vicariously and tightened my hold around Sunny's arm.

After Sunny's arrival, we had gone to the checkups together, it was these moments that I got to hold her and talk to her, but Rose insisted to come with us today for some reason.

Krystal and Dr Tori held a small get together for us to reveal the gender. They had a cake covered with chocolate that had 'The unlucky baby is a....' written on it with icing. They gave us a knife to cut through it and as we revealed the pink raspberry chocolate, pink confetti flew to the air and Krystal shouted: " She's a girl!"

I was recalling the memory of Sunny jumping around hugging everyone with happy tears and of her carrying me and spinning around with excitement and joy.

I didn't realise that doctor Tori was already telling me to lay down, but I hurriedly did when Rose slapped my leg, "What an embarrassing pregnant adult." she murmured with a shake of her head.

"Rose, be nice." Sunny held her again and came to my side smiling apologetically at me, "Jessica has been feeling pain in her back for the last week, she couldn't sleep."

"It's normal she would feel pain as the baby grows, you'll have to massage her back to relax the muscles." Kelly replied then looked at my direction as she readied the machine connected to a small tv, "Have you felt anything other than the back pain?"

I looked pointedly at Sunny then back at her, she got that I needed privacy and directed Sunny to wait outside. I cleared my throat before I spoke, "I...I wanted to ask if it's uhm... Okay to..."

"It's okay to feel horny, Jessica."

"I didn't say that!" I yelled and I'm sure my whole face was red.
