1. I'm just your average Muslimah, struggling to teach people how to pronounce my name on a day to day basis in the "Western World" as many of you probably are as well. Born and raised in Canada. Eh.
2. I'm from Kerkuk, Iraq. Kerkuk is the Turkish speaking part of Iraq. Shocking, yes. But Iraq is a trilingual country: Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish.
3. I'm attending my first year university, doing my bachelor of science degree and I already feel like I would rather be in pajamas looking through my fridge all day. The only thing that keeps me going are my big dreams for the future to go to the Middle East and help the Muslimeen, inshallah. #TeamFreeTheMiddleEast
4. I love travelling! The latest trip I had been on was the past winter to Saudi Arabia. I was blessed enough to perform Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) and visit Madinah, Alhamdulilah. Other than that, I have been to parts of Canada, Iraq, Turkey, America (for a girls shopping weekend in Vegas with my mom).
5. When I was sixteen, I hit my moms car before I got my licence and now she refuses to stay calm while I'm driving and insists on holding the steering wheel for me. (Alhamdulilah, no one got hurt...)
6. I have a pet turtle. Her name is Squirt like the little guy from Finding Nemo. If you do not know who or what I'm talking about... you're done here.
7. I am a huge, I mean HUGE Disney fan. I'm eighteen on the outside but on the inside I'm the three year old that refuses to stop repeating every word to the movie, Lion King (songs included).
8. I love wearing black. Enough said.
9. I have really bad, dark circles around my eyes so my friends tell me that I remind them of a panda bear.
10. I'm the first of three children. I have two brothers and would kill for a sister. We are adopting if you have any offers, btw.
11. When I'm not at school, I am either in bed slugging away, volunteering or working with children under the age of six years old. It's always been my summer job. I think it's the fact that all of their little voices either call me by my name or refer to me as: "teacher" 😂☺️
12. I am obsessed with rain: the smell, the sound, the sight, the feeling of rain and the barakah of dua while it's raining... it's perfection, mashallah.
13. I live for my family. They are my whole world. My parents and my brothers are my best friends, my only friends, my everything.
14. Spring is my absolute favourite season because of my obsession for rain and the beauty of how everything dead turns alive. (Kinda like my attitude from winter to spring.) Although I do also love the hijab friendly fashion line during fall time.
15. I started wearing my hijab when I was seven years old: ONE HUNDRED PERCENT MY DECISION. And alhamdulilah, I have never considered taking it off.
16. I love making new girl friends. I'm just more comfortable that way, so hit me up sometime peeps!
17. I am obsessed with bows. I think they're so simple and of course, adorable.
18. I love pastel colors so much but my favourite color for interior designing is probably light, off white colors. Which is weird because my bedroom furniture is black and the walls are purple. Huh.
19. I love animals, so much. They're a blessing from Allah SWT and studying their difficult, and tiring life cycles fascinate me.
20. I love reading. I used to read so many books until I realized I didn't have that much free time anymore. Picking a favourite book would be difficult but I always narrow it down to this one book that I read when I was ten years old for the first time. I will never forget "A Little Piece of Ground" by Elizabeth Laird - the book that changed my life forever. This year I was introduced to Wattpad by @foreverdreaming and couldn't be happier. I have met amazing people on this app in such a short amount of time - some of which I feel like I have known my entire life. I wish that someday, our paths will cross with the will of Allah SWT. I might begin writing again, who knows!
