A big, spooky hello, one and all. My name is Kathy, Here is my story enjoy.

My birthday fell on a Saturday, so Mum decided to  hold my party in the afternoon. "And because there's no school the next day, your friends can stay on and watch TV," she said.

Mum and I had mailed out all the invitations two weeks before the big day. All my friends replied quickly. Mum told me she was going to decorate the living room with streamers and balloons. Then she sat down and planned a menu for me. Noddles, chicken wings, pies, sausage rolls, home-made desserts, cakes -- the list went on and on.

My eyes boggled. "That's too much, Mum, isn't it?" I asked her.

"Ha!" Mum replied with a laugh. "You have twenty of your friends coming, Kathy . They'll eat their way through everything, just you wait and see."

Then I started to think about what I wanted to wear. Mum took me shopping, and I chose my outfit for the party --- a sky-blue blouse and a shimmery gray skirt that fell just below the knees. A pair of black and sliver sandals completed the ensemble.

Wow, all set, I thought. My place was going to be Party Headquarters!

And then the first of the inexplicable things happened.

I was on my way home from school the day before my party. I had just got off the bus and was walking through the park toward my apartment block. I was alone, quite alone, and I couldn't see anyone else. But I swear I heard someone whistling the Happy Birthday song.

I stopped dead in my tracks, listening, but the whistling had stopped.

For a moment, all i could hear was the traffic on the main road and some birds chirping in a tree. The air was perfectly still, so the whistling hadn't been caused by the wind.

It must have been my imagination, I thought. I shrugged and walked on.

              And then it started again...

              A soft whistling sound.....

Only this time, I had the strangest feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around, but no one was there. Yet I was quite sure I was no longer alone....
