Itwas almost meditative for her, the serene rhythm of the rain hittingthe window. The feeling of the sudden coolness, a welcome break fromthe heatwave that the city had been experiencing. The two combinedwas almost enough to help the poor girl to fall asleep, but alas forher, her thoughts yet again would be the cause of another sleeplessnight. With a soft sigh and much complaint from her muscles, Maxineslowly rose up to a seated position and watched the raindrops hit herbedroom window. Absent-mindedly she began to trace gentle patternsacross the smooth skin of her stomach, her mind once more trying tolull itself to sleep to the sound of the rain. Her eyes had begun todroop before a familiar thought rose back to the forefront of hermind. She was reminded of how confusing it could be that out ofnowhere life often put up blockages that made people have to walk anew path in life. She didn't think it all that fair, but there wasnothing that could be done about it, at least that's what shebelieved.

Anangry sigh escaped Maxine as she glanced at the time showing on herphone. "Midnight." She muttered disdainfully as she slowly gotout of bed and headed down to the kitchen. "I hope your happy. I'mgiving up coffee because of you." She mumbled, gently running ahand over her stomach, while the other hand turned the kettle on."But I guess I shouldn't complain. Tea is healthier and it mighteven make me fall asleep." She continued, as if speaking tosomeone, though she was currently all alone in her home. Her partneronce again having to stay out late at night for his work. Thinking ofhim brought a soft smile to Maxine's lips as she picked out a tea hehad bought for her to try and get her to stop drinking coffee. "Ifonly your father knew the real reason I was quitting coffee." Shecooed softly as she finished preparing some tea for herself. After abrief moment of thought, she opted to sitting in the living room withher tea to drink. Not bothering to turn the lights on as shecontinued to listen to the rain while she drank her tea. The softaroma aiding her in the process of becoming drowsy again.

Maxinehad no idea how long she sat there or if she had even dozed off alittle bit, all she knew was that the sound of the front door openingand closing had gotten her attention. Gently putting her mug down, she slowly pulled herself to her feet and moved towards the front ofthe house to greet her partner. Meeting her halfway, Arrow for abrief moment looked surprised to see her. Though surprise quicklyturned to a concerned smile as he pulled her in for a hug. His bodywas a little colder from having been outside and his clothes herstill a little damp from the rain, but none of this bothered Maxine. She was just glad he was home again, maybe now she'd sleep easier.

"Hellobeautiful. What are you doing up so late?" Arrow mused, as hepulled away just enough to look down at Maxine. "Hey therestranger. I was having trouble sleeping so I......" She began, before a large yawn interrupted her sentence. Arrow chuckled slightlyand knelt down a little, wrapping his arms around Maxine's legsbefore her lifted her up with ease. "Don't laugh at me... the teamade me sleepy." Maxine, who normally despised being carriedabout, whined as she pressed in closer to Arrow breathing in hisfamiliar scent. "Oh? Do my ears deceive me? Or did I just hear yousay you drank tea?" Arrow teased as he carried Maxine up to thebedroom, his teasing earned him another whine from his smallercounterpart. "Not now..." She mumbled tiredly, already feelingherself doze off. Arrow let out another soft chuckle before he gentlylaid Maxine down on the bed, pulling the covers over her. Before hestripped away his wet clothes and put on some dry ones. Quicklyjoining Maxine under the covers, holding her close to him as he lethimself relax. "Goodnight Maxi." He whispered, softly pressing akiss to Maxine's cheek, before slowly falling asleep himself.

Maxineoverslept that morning, being awoken not by the familiar sounds ofcars and loud people, but by the movement Arrow caused as he got outof bed. Still half asleep she reached out to grab his hand, gentlysqueaking and letting go as her hand touched a familiar cold metal."I don't know how I don't manage to wake up to the feeling of youricicle hand while I'm sleeping." She said softly as she slowlywilled herself to sit up. Arrow chuckled lightly as he looked down athis bionic hand and shrugged. "I'm afraid I don't have an answerfor that." He says as he stretches out his back.
