CHAPTER 54: H.E.L.P
"Love, I do wish you would stop worrying about it" Edward groaned as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "You heard Ness. She want's to wait"
"But her dream..." I began to protest until edward cut me off.
"Was just a dream" he soothed,
"I guess" I mumbled, as I walked toward the parking lot. Another school day was over and quite frankly all I wanted was to get home and drop the pretence. It was getting very tiresome constantly pretending to be my daughter's sister, not to mention insulting.
Edward had, of course, known about Nessie's dream, but what he hadn't known was that I was watching. When I had come back downstairs last night and told him he had wrapped an arm around my shoulder and comforted me through my silent sobbing. He'd been insisting all last night and all day today that it was just a dream, nothing worth me worrying about, and I knew my constant worrying was grinding a nerve with him. So I tried to focus my mind on other thing's.
"Would you like to hunt tonight?" I asked as we pulled out of the parking lot.
"That sound's good" Edward grinned, taking his eye's off the road to look at me whilst reaching over with his right hand to hold my own.
The rest of the drive home was almost silent, with Edward occasionally suggesting good hunting site's. I nodded and agreed when it was necessary, but other than that my thought's were utterly consumed on Ness's dream. She had looked so happy, and no matter how much she told us she wanted to wait before marrying Jacob, her dream betrayed her real thought's. She really did love him. I felt torn between what I felt was right for my daughter, and what she wanted.
"We're home" Edward laughed awkwardly, snapping me out of my day dream. I looked around and noticed we were at home, I also noticed Jacob's car and let out an involuntary groan. I wasn't looking forward to seeing Ness, I knew I would have to talk to her about her dream and how she really felt on the matter.
I also knew she'd be upset with me for watching.
I groaned to myself as I got out the car and raced to grab Edward's hand as we headed inside.
"Don't fret love" Edward soothed. I was sure I could hear a hint of amusement in his voice, but passed it off as me being paranoid.
I couldn't see any one when we first stepped in, although my heightened sense of smell told me that Jacob was in the house. No matter how much time I spent with him, it was impossible to get used to the odour that he left in his wake. I often wondered to myself how on earth human's don't pick up on it.
"Hello?" Edward called out, leading me toward's the sofa.
Esme came bustling into the living room when she heard us enter,
"Hello dear's" she chimed, "how was your day?"
"Awful" I groaned, settling into my chair.
Edward sat on the arm of the chair and wrapped an arm around me.
"How was your day Esme?" he asked, clearly trying to focus my mind on other thing's.
"Oh much the same" she smiled, running the dust cloth over the TV unit. "I got a few more seed's planted in the greenhouse"
