I'm going to keep this short. This moment stays a moment.
How do you help someone so adamantly avoiding help? How do you help someone who doesn't want the help?
How do go forward in this type of situation?
There is no right answer to any of these questions. However, there are wrong answers. Thankfully, I knew what the wrong answers were and I avoided doing those.

"I'm not sure the best way to help you, Sybel, so I'm going to try the one thing I do know how to do." I hug her. I let her feel my presence and I let her know she's not alone. I don't know if it's even doing anything, but I feel Sybel lean her head into mine. I assume I'm at least not making it worse.
But, you know what they say about assuming.
"W-what if I..." Sybel chokes out. "Hurt you?"
"You see, Sybel, the thing about hurting people, is it is bound to happen. Whether it's emotionally, physically, or verbally, it's going to happen. No one is perfect, no one can keep it from happening forever." I begin. "Sybel, someone once told me 'Love is not finding someone who never makes mistakes, love is finding someone who will forever forgive your mistakes and help you grow from them.' You are bound to make some mistake, but I will forgive you."
She cries into my shoulder. Hard. I just hold her to me, and I let her cry it out.
"I love you, David." Sybel mumbles into my ear, after she's finally stopped their heaving sobs. "Please don't ever let me go."
"I will stay with you, Sybel, Forever and Always." I say.
