"I won't let him hurt you, I pro-" Avery starts to say before I receive a face full of her blood. I open my eyes to see an arrow protruding from her skull, I try to catch her falling body but I cannot move. All I can do is scream, I scream until Elijah runs into my room and tells me everything is going to be okay, I scream until Atticus carries me to my sisters room. I scream until my throat goes raw and my voice is no more. Lilith holds me until I fall asleep, and wake up with nightmares.

After hours of having various nightmares about Avery, I wake up to birds chirping outside Lilith's window. My face is still damp with the tears I've shed overnight. I rise from my sisters bed, the pillow following my face, stuck with salty tears. The empty space where my sister would sleep, tells me that it is most likely past breakfast time. I stretch and put on my slippers. When I pass the mirror on my way out, I notice my appearance. My mascara is smeared across my cheeks, my eyelids are puffy and my face is red. I wipe my face and head out the door to go and talk to my father.

The King is standing in the courtyard ordering his men to check everything twice.

"There was an attempt on my daughters life, and my grandsons life. If I ever find the man who would do such a thing, there is no end that would be sufficient for such an action," he speaks boldly.

"Father," it comes out a whisper.

"Krystal, come here darling," he says as I walk towards him, "Are you okay my dear, Jewel?"

"Yes, I am alright father. But I am in no mood to get married to-."

"I am sure that you are not, but, frankly, you don't have a choice."

"What? Father I could've died last night and you still want me to act like everything is okay? I can't and I won't," I assure him.

"You are getting married tomorrow, or you won't live to see tomorrow. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Jonathan," I try to walk away but he grabs my arm and turns me.

"You will not speak to me that way, young lady," he growls as he slaps me across my face. It burns where his hand makes contact.

"Fuck you," I spit in his face as I rip my arm out of his grasp. He is too stunned to chase after me; he just stares in disbelief. I burst through the palace doors and run into Atticus.

"Oh, hello. Are you... okay?" he asks concerned.

"Yes," I say, I wipe the tears from my face and straighten my body. "I am perfectly fine and cannot wait for tomorrow to marry you, my love," I sniffled.

"No you are not," he states.

"yes , I am. Why wouldn't I be?" I ask

"You hate me, you would never call me "my love". Not in a million years," Atticus mumbled.

"Oh, really?"

"Yes, in fact. You despise me," he sighed.

"Now why would I sleep with a person I despise?" I question.

"You did not sleep with me. I forced myself upon you under your father's command. Two completely different sce-" I throw myself into him and kiss him fiercely. He kisses back. I pull away and look around us, nobody. I tell him to lead the way, he does as told. He grabs my hand and starts leading me towards his bedroom. Oh, gods. What am I doing? I slow down. He turns around and asks me what wrong, I say nothing and kiss him once more. Atticus opens the door to his room and I enter.

His room is larger than mine, brighter too. The walls were a red, and the trim a dark grey. He had windows lining one wall and a patio on the same side. His bed had enough room to fit nine people in it. His hands bring me out of my trance, trailing along my arm.

"Come on," he says gently pulling me to his bed.

"I... I don't want to anymore."

"You," his brows furrowed. "You don't have to. But when we are married tomorrow. You won't have a choice. We need to give you father grandchildren."

"I know," I sigh, "I am already pregnant, so I feel like doing this," I gesture to his bed, "is pointless."

"Wait, you are pregnant"

"Yes. And since you took my innocence, it can't be anyone else's."

"I was your first?" I nod my reply. "That's why you were terrible at it," he laughs.

"Oh bug off. I will only stay here because it is late and I am tired."

"Sure, okay. But I am still sleeping on the bed you know."

"Yes, I know don't remind me," I say walking to the closest to change. I put on a nightgown that belong to somebody else and lay down to rest. I feel him get into bed beside me, he tries to wrap his arms around my waist but I move away slightly so he doesn't. I can't believe I almost did that, out of anger and sadness. I have to watch myself from now on.
