Southborough is a small suburb off of Tunbridge wells, UK. It was once home to 7,000 people, now hardly have remained in the small town as most have fled east to russia to either get into humanity's ultimate sanctuary, a bunker, or to extend their life from the wall of fire that will spread across the globe in less that 12 hours. Under the strong siberian mountains, 10 miles deep, are a network of manmade titanium bunkers. This will be 1/8 of the worlds populations home for the next 2 years. Some were picked because of their special skills that would help with the rebuilding of civilisation while the civilians were picked by national lottery.
Back in southborough, A 18 year old boy named Danny was on his balcony, smoking a cigarette, totally alone. His family and himself were selected for the bunker. His family left for the bunker 2 weeks prior to the time of impact, Danny said he would follow behind...but never did. The truth is Danny had no intention of living, he saw no point. A day before the impact, Danny got a call, his entire family were all safe in the bunker. After giving false hope to his family about sorting transport to the bunker on time, he said "I love you, see you soon" and put down the landline phone, knowing that was the last time and last people who would ever hear from him. He held back the tears, set his alarm for 10am and went to bed. From this point, it was 13 hours until the 10 mile wide asteroid would slam into the american west coast.

Danny's alarm went off as expected, he turned his alarm off and for once, gracefully got out of bed. Even seconds after waking up, Danny knew where he was, what day it was, and what was about to unfold. He got too his feet and ripped his cutain off, he knew what direction the pyroclasm would come from; the west. His bedroom window had a perfect view of the street below, over the rooftops, directly and perfectly, looking west. He clenched his phone and set the alarm for: 11:13am; the time the asteroid was predicted to hit. He hesitated for good reason, a thought rolled over his mind like a wave; he didn't want to know, he didn't want to count...he wanted to be caught off guard, and strangely he found that exciting. So he put his earphones in, and allowed the high volumed singing from the musical: Hamilton, to pierce his ear drums. He knew one thing about the asteroid, apart from the fact he will die, he knew an electromagnetic pulse would travel across the world when the impact happens, and turn off all electronic devices. So he enjoyed his playlist while he could and savoured every note, word and vocal pitch while once again he stood out on the balcony smoking another cigarette. An hour goes by unnoticed, the time is 11:12am.
Danny finished listening to "you'll be back" and with perfect timing, his phone turned off.

The Asteroid had struck, 8 hours to go.
Geographical note- When the asteroid slammed into the shallow waters off of the south western coast of California, it hit with the force of 10,000 tsar bombs, it created a crater 130 mile across and 25 miles deep. Even though the asteroid vaporized into a million pieces, it would create a wall of fire that would travel across half the globe before dying out and the hot dust rising into the atmosphere, blocking the sun and creating a nuclear winter for about a year. The UK was not going to be spared, the wall of fire would subside over eastern Europe but anything west of Ukraine would be a twig thrown into a bonfire.
