Savannah
The song that the guys were going to be singing was so good. I had heard snippets of it multiple times through their recording sessions, but I was excited to hear them play it for the first time in just a couple of minutes. The only thing that I wasn't happy about was that I had to leave right after their performance, so I could get ready.
So much happening in one night. This performance, my album was dropping right at midnight and not one of my fans were expecting it. Me on the other hand, I was expecting complete chaos from every social place that I could think of. Tonight, is going to be fun.
When the announcer came out onto the stage and the applause for her stopped, she smiled at the crowd before reading off the teleprompter.
"Coming off their United States and Australia tour, this band has had a lot of success with their songs like 'She Looks So Perfect', 'Don't Stop', and 'Amnesia'. Here with a new song off their upcoming album, Sounds Good Feels Good, here is Five Seconds of Summer." I stood up, wanting to catch a good view of my boyfriend shredding on his guitar.
My heart leaped at the sight of Michael in his white shirt and black ripped skinny jeans. He sent me a wink as Ashton started the song with his drums and voice.
My girlfriend's bitchin' cause I always sleep in
She's always screamin' when she's calling her friend
She's kinda hot though
Yeah, she's kinda hot though
(Just an itty bitty little bit hot)I thoroughly enjoyed the song completed. It was catchy and a very fun tune. Nicole and I danced along to the song; enjoying the time that I was having. The guys looked like they were having a good time on the stage as the three of them jumped around and got the crowd by the stage into the song. I looked at the people beside me who seemed to be thoroughly liking the song.
But we're alright though
Yeah, we're alright though
We are the kings and the queens of the new broken scene
Yeah, we're alright though
As the song came to an end, the boys gave a final wave to the crowd. The announcer diverted the attention of the crowd to another celebrity that came out to present another award. Before she even had time to begin talking, Breanna was grabbing me by the arm and pulling me away from Nicole.
My nerves began to fester in my belly when I sat in the chair while Amelia worked on my hair and makeup again. We were changing it so that everything was simple and classic to go along with the red dress I had picked out for the performance. When the dress was revealed after opening the garment bag, I knew it was happening. We were close.
"Okay, Savannah. We're going to clear the way to the side of the stage. They're going to announce the winner of the award right before your performance." Breath Savannah. You've got this.
Unfortunately, I knew it wasn't me that was going to win the award. Breanna had announced that to me before the show started. The guys on the other hand didn't so I knew that they would be disappointed that I didn't win. That was okay because my album dropping would cheer them all up. I had a couple of people around me, holding up sheets to cover my identity. My heart pounded inside my chest. Almost time now. Just a couple more minutes.
Around me, I could hear the crowd cheering as each of the names in the new artist category were being announced. When they said my name, my heart squeezed.
"Now might be a great time to announce that I lied to you Savannah." Breanna was beside me, as the room of people got quiet because they were getting ready to say the winner's name. Before I could understand what Breanna had said, I had the shock of my life.
"Savannah Whitley!" The crowd roared in applause as my heart stopped. She did not just say my name. But she had in fact. Shakily, my feet walked out on the stage. For a split second the thought went through my head about how I was supposed to accept this award and then get to back to where I needed to be for my performance.
Michael
I was so excited when coming out from taking photos. The band had won an award for Best Fans. Honestly, they deserved it because they really are the best fans in the entire world. The excitement I was feeling had been taken down a bit when we got back to our seats to find that Savannah wasn't with Nicole. I had asked Nicole where she was, but she said that she went to the bathroom and that once she got back, she was gone. I knew that the award she was nominated for was up next then the last performance- that was still a complete mystery to everyone- and I knew that she didn't want to miss the chance at winning her first award.
"She should be back by now because she wouldn't miss this." Ashton whispered to me as the blonde celebrity went through the names of nominees. Once they got to Savannah's name all five of us gave our cheers and whistles. My palms started to sweat as I was finally time to see if all of Savannah's hard work the last couple of months have been worth it.
"And the winner is....." She opened the card and I stopped breathing. "Savannah Whitley."
Automatically, I stood and started clapping. I wish she was here, so I could kiss her, just like she did for me not even an hour before. From the side of the stage she walked across to accept her award. She had changed into a floor length red dress. Her hair was in soft curls and her makeup was different from earlier. Much simpler. When she took the award and stood in front of the microphone to speak, I saw her nerves as she looked directly into my eyes.
"Wow, I didn't honestly expect to win this award. I have so many people to thank. First and foremost, thank you to my fans because you all did this! It was fan voted and you all are amazing. Michael, thank you so much. Without you I literally wouldn't be here on this stage. You have been the glue to hold me together these last few months. A big thank you to my record label and every single person who has helped me get to where I am today." I smiled at her, glad to have such an amazing woman as my girlfriend. She was perfect. As she was guided back stage all I wanted to do was go find her and kiss her. Of course, I couldn't. The last performer was coming up next and we all had to remain seated.
"You don't think it's Savannah that is the closing act, do you?" Calum leaned across Ashton to ask me. I shook my head no, but I could understand why he had asked me. It was a bit fishy that She had changed. Maybe she is performing.
Savannah
Holy crap, I was out of breath by the time I made it back over to the other side of the stage. Note to self, wear flat footwear if you must run anywhere. Thankfully, once I got back to where I was meant to be I was able to sit on my bench, a beautiful white piano sat in front of me. I was still reeling from winning but I knew that I had less than a minute to get my breathing back to normal before the wall that blocked the audiences from me, would be lifted and it would be my que to start my song.
From the stage I could hear Ben Hazelwood's voice as he was the one to introduce me.
"Our last performer of the night has been kept secret per her choice. She has had a tumultuous past couple of months and now she is finally getting her voice back. Coming off just winning Best New Artist and singing brand new song; please welcome back to the stage, Savannah Whitley."
Here goes nothing.
I got a laptop and I swear this is the first thing I worked on last night even if I was a bit tipsy when writing it, it still came out pretty good. Hope you all enjoy! :)
