Chapter 21: Rallying the Troupes

Rose, Blair, Mary, Gregory and Torres where sitting in front of a very angry Samuel, who listen to everything that is  being said about what is going on. The whole family along with their allies gather around to listen to Rose and her crew and she did not leave nothing out. Looking at Torres, Samuel jaw clench, then he straighten up and says, so, all this time you kept important information to yourself. If you had come to me, my daughter would not have been in this mess, Fiona would have still been alive and as for the rest of you, Mary and Gregory, how can we trust you? after all, you are an Agent  that can bring me down and Gregory, well he has a reputation to feed authorities information just to save his behind.

Dad! I know you are suspicious about them, you have every right to be but they have been looking after me. Whether it was Torres visiting me to see how I was doing during and mother's passing or Mary taking her father's advice in watching over me, they were there. And lets not forget Gregory is a well known criminal who knows not to rub a dangerous person the wrong way, the boy would have information on you but he will be smart not to use it on you.

She is right, I do not cross hard core criminals paths, that right there is a death wish I do not wish to fulfill, Gregory says quickly. Samuel right eyebrow rise at what Gregory said, then he stand up and look at his men, friends and family. We need to start gathering information of our own, we have some suspicion about if our allies were loyal, now we have to test them, way the pros from the cons. Everyone nodded then went to work, as for you five, we need to further discuss our arrangements for your protections.

After two hours of discussing the needed protection of Rose, Mary, Blair, Gregory, and Torres, when the others left, Samuel and Rose stayed behind to have a private discussion. Standing up from his chair, he walk  around his table and sit on the edge of it, staring at Rose he asks her if she is alright? Rose hang her head down and bite her bottom lip, then she looks at her father with tears threatening to spill. I don't know if am alright or not, I found out that my mother did not die the way my Grandparents say she did, a crazy mafia family is after me because my mother drop the ball and left them to eat her dust, add on a crazy man who not only had a hand in my mother's death but became obsess with me, did I also mention he is the reason my old  friend Sara has an axe to grind with me and last but not lease, I kill a man.

Opening his arms, Samuel beckon his daughter to him in which she gladly accepts. Jumping in his arms she cries like she never did before, messing up her father black polo shirt. Samuel felt anger arise in him, he wanted to take his men, march right to the Renaldi's mansion and deal with them the mafia way. After a while he notice his daughter soft snores telling him she fall asleep in his arms, taking her up, he walk out of his office and into the room he gave to her. Lying her down on the bed, he wipe some of the hair from her face then kiss her forehead, whispering to her, it is going to be alright, I'm her for you.

As he quietly walk out the room, he look up to see his sons there waiting to hear the verdict on how their sister is doing. She is exhausted and stress amongst other things, but other than that she is going to be alright, we just have to watch her carefully this time because we can not left those bastards get their hand on her. Walking away from the room, Samuel is followed by his sons who voice their concerns about the Renaldi's including the information of why Fiona became attached to this family, for protection.

Going back to the Office, he sits down and went on into deep thought. I agree, I should have paid attention to Fiona instead of making her one of my one time flames. The way she acted, her wildness and clinginess, I should have known there was something else, but what I admire about the women was her why of fighting for what she wanted and her way of doing it on her own without nobody help. I can remember when I offer her money to go pamper herself whether it was to do her hair, nails or shopping for clothes. She would take the money then go do what she had to do, when she came back and rests the money I give her back on the table telling me she didn't need my  money after all.

I must say she was something, says Samuel best friend Mateo who walk into the room to greet everyone. She was s spitfire and a beauty, even though men line up to get her attention, she only had eyes for Samuel. I figured out why the Renaldi's wanted her, do you remember when the Appleton's lost everything because of Fiona's Grandfather gambling addiction? Well what you don't know is the reason why Fiona was promise to the Renaldi. Turns out the idiot made a bet that if he won, he would give them Fiona when she becomes an adult which would have been five years from when that bet was place.

He lost that night and when the five years was up, Renaldi's came to collect but Fiona's mother told them that she was away to college, obtaining a degree in Nursing. In truth, Fiona was still in Italy hiding because she had known about the bet from since it was place by her Grandfather. Mateo continued by saying he found Fiona's old friend who told him that  cross paths with the Renaldi's, but by the time they tried to get closer to her, she vanish again only to turn up years later with you on her arms, stating she was dating you.

I also made some calls with our allies, they said they would back us up because the Renaldi's have something they want. And what is that? Samuel asks Mateo with an eyebrow raise and Mateo replies to him, a black book that contains all the dealings with different mafia groups, with one phone call the police can bring the whole organization down. It also contains dirt on dirty officers, that's why some of our allies left us in these past years, to save their behind.

When Samuel was about to say something the phone rings, answering it he face had a look of surprise. Alright! We will be their he says to the person on the other line then he hangs up and says the Renaldi's invited them to one of their big meetings, the one where they invites the biggest and dangerous mafia groups to a secret location to discuss business of who would be on top and run Italy. Rally the troupes because I believe they are up to something, the storm is here and only the strongest will survive.
