Rain was not common in San Diego but when we got it we got it. It was the second day of our week long thunderstorm but that didn't stop me from seizing the day.
i lived south side meaning lots of gangs and drugs. if i wasn't from here i wouldn't be safe.
My mom was a south side kid, cleaned houses for the rich people across the city.
She would tell me how when she was working for a snobby couple. One day the couples house was being painted that's the  day she met a painters son. They did everything together and swore they'd live to be happy. Then a simple test ruined it all, when those two lines came up my moms world collapsed.
She tells me my Dad didn't like the idea of a baby when he was getting his Career started and he left.
I found him he's famous now, a singer in a band, i swore i'd get my revenge.
My Mother died when i was 12.
I met two kids, Matthew and Lainey, They helped me out in the abandoned building they were squatting in.
I've been here for four years now, and Todays the day.
"Bye guys I love you!" I screamed leaving quickly.
"If i get arrested my bail money is in my room." i added.
The rain hit heavy on the ground like little bullets.
i tried not to think on it and threw my skateboard down.
My father lived on the north side now, he had it perfect, nice house, beautiful girlfriend, money.
Then there is me, alone other than Lainey and Matthew, and some other kids i've met along the way. i work at a tattoo shop, not doing the tattoos of course, I cleaned floors and fetched coffee, needles, and ink.
From what I know about my dad he likes to "help" kids with his music, wish he would've done 16 years ago.
Today was the day I'd make him realize what he lost.
I had a plan, well my plan was to knock over his mailbox and pop his tires.
I saw his house creep into my vision. I knew it by the last name on the Mailbox.
No car in the driveway, good timing, Quinn.
I quickly removed my single can of spray paint.
Painting quickly I wrote.
"And because of you, a child sleeps one hundred sleepless nights."
Satisfied with my work I quickly ran to the front of the house only to see four men getting out of a black car.
Considering I was behind his fence with a skateboard in one hand and a bottle of black spray paint in the other this can't look good.
I quickly slung my bag over the fence and began to climb it myself.
They noticed me and began to run over to me.
I quickly hopped on my skateboard and rode off.
I made it about 15 feet before hitting a bump in the sidewalk and sliding down the concrete like a slip n' slide. I looked up and saw the one and only Jamie above me.
He picked me up and slung me over his shoulder.
"Caught her." He chuckled carrying me into the house.
"Who are you?" Vic asked me as I flailed around trying to escape Jamie's grip.
"Quinten Victoria Fuentes!" I stated proudly.
"Fuentes?" He questioned.
"Daughter of Sara Brown."
"Isn't Sara your ex-girlfriend?" Mike asked my Vic.
"Yeah we broke up when she said she was aborting her baby, Wait, you can't be."
"You liar!" I shrieked, "You left her for your music!"
"Woah settle down, how do we even know she's actually yours?" Tony asked.
"She looks just like him, but she has Sara's eyes," Mike told him.

I explained it all to Lainey and Matthew, my father forced me to move in with him, it's not all too bad, he hasn't found out about my nicotine addiction yet.
I'm the closest to Uncle Mike, he calls me Q, they all have nicknames for me.
"Quinten! Will you come here for a moment!" My dad screamed.
"Coming!" I replied before running down a flight of stairs.
I walked into the living room to find a bunch of wrapped presents.
"I know I can't make up for not being there, but there is something's to help, one for every missed birthday and Christmas." He looked sad.
I ran over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist.
"Thank you, Daddy, but you didn't have to." I smiled.
"Oh i did, go ahead now open them." He was giggling like a child.
all the presents were expensive.
Iphone, MacBook, apple watch, iMac, who needs two computers? and various room furniture and clothes, and finally a locket with my parents names on the front, and my name on the back.
"Aww i love it daddy." i told him as i ran for a hug.
"Okay well you go get this stuff set up, i'm gonna go scrub the side of the house, then we can call up the guys and go out for dinner, sound good?"
"Sounds perfect!"
