The lightheadedness Clarke had felt earlier wasn't going away as she stood in the ammunition tent. She put the tiredness in her bones down to lack of sleep from a new batch of nightmares that seemed to plague her sleep every night since the crash of the Exodus ship.
"Clarke, I'm sorry about your mom," Raven spoke genuinely as the mechanic momentarily cast aside the elephant in the room. That elephant being a certain boy by the nickname of 'Spacewalker'.
Clarke nodded in thanks but stilled as the pounding in her head intensified. It took everything in her power to keep herself from wincing aloud as her eyes began to burn. Maybe she was coming down with something, which wouldn't surprise her since she hadn't exactly been in the frame of mind to look after herself the last few days.
Raven's mention of her mother conjured up a new wave of grief at the thought but she cast it aside as her mind wandered back to Murphy; the looming thought of what to do with him still stuck in her head. Would she have to kill him, as she had promised Bellamy? Would he leave? Knowing Murphy the latter wasn't likely.Raven looked over at Clarke's tired expression and couldn't help but feel sympathy towards her at losing someone so close to her. Her hands fiddled with the wires on the radio before her gaze returned to Clarke again. Suddenly, the sight of blood appearing at the corners of Clarke's eyes alarmed Raven as she started forward.
"Oh my god Clarke, your eyes!"
Clarke was vaguely aware of red in her periphery as she touched her fingertips to her cheeks, only to come away with red coating them. Her eyes widened in alarm as she wiped her eyes in horror. The earlier burning feeling now suddenly made sense."Clarke, Clarke! Where's Clarke?" A voice from outside called her name as Clarke threw aside the tent flap, her eyes searching for the person calling. They landed on Connor and the uncontrolled blood flow running from his nose into his gloved hands. Confusion hit her full on and a rasping cough made her head snap to look towards the fire where Derek sat surrounded by people. His coughing and eventual retching, as blood appeared around his lips, was enough to make the people around him back away in disgust until they formed a 5-yard perimeter around his convulsing body.
Murphy.
Clarke's eyes widened in horror as she realised why she had been so troubled by Murphy's arrival. There was a darker motive and she knew that she had been stupid not to see that the Grounders would retaliate in any manner possible. This time it wasn't a direct attack.
Raven rushed out of the tent but Clarke's hand stopped her before she could take a step closer.
"Raven, stay away from us," Clarke warned, her breathing was laboured as she swayed on the spot and could feel the blood begin to drip from her eyelids once again.
"Clarke?" Raven kept her distance as confusion became clear on her face.
Clarke made ready to move toward the dropship as she turned to Raven with a grave expression."They're the ones who brought Murphy in."
—————--------------------------
A commotion from outside alerted Bellamy as he quickly pushed aside the flap of his tent to see people looking around nervously, each of them talking anxiously and some angrily at whatever the commotion was.
He quickly registered the seriousness of the situation by the concerned look on people's faces and was striding towards the gathered group in an instant before turning to Raven who stood closest to the dropship."What's going on?" He asked because from what he could tell, Raven's grave expression meant it was not good.
"People are starting to show signs of a serious illness around camp. Derek and Connor were the first. It seemed they were the ones that brought Murphy in...," she began. Bellamy's eyes widened as he turned to see a trail of blood leading up the dropship ramp before it disappeared into the folds of the parachute curtain.
