Wow, guys!! 100 reads already!! Thank you soooo much! I'm so glad so many people have read this book of one-shots already!
Four definitive gunshots echoed their way across the walls of the dropship camp as Clarke stood, swaying, on the dropship ramp. Her expression was not one to be messed with as the scene before her went from carnage to calm the second she had fired the warning shots into the air. The yelling and shouting died down as a few of the campers helped the sick into the dropship behind her before she turned to face the mass of scared and angry faces. Each of which was ready to question her enforced quarantine. She wasn't about to let them have the satisfaction.
Even though her eyes felt like they had lead weights attached to them, she strived to keep them open. Her entire body ached, sending off alarm bells in her head that the fever had spread to every part of her. She could hear ringing in her ears as her eyes drifted to Bellamy, who stood in the midst of the crowd, to see a look a surprise with a hint of admiration behind it at her quick thinking.
"This is exactly what the Grounders want," she began as she prayed her feet would stay rooted to the spot. The gun resting on her hip seemed to weight a million tonnes but she stood her ground and even took a few steps forward. "Don't you see that? They don't have to kill us if we kill each other first."
One of the guards stepped forward and aimed his gun at her as he shook with anger. Clarke didn't have the energy to flinch.
"They don't have to kill us if we all catch the virus! Get back in the damn dropship..." Before the delinquent could finish Bellamy was already grabbing his gun from behind and slamming the butt of the gun into the boy's nose. He let out a sharp cry of surprise before stumbling back into line with the other campers.
Bellamy slung the gun over his shoulder as he gave to delinquent a cold look. He wasn't going to have Clarke being shot by some guy who didn't understand what Clarke was doing for them. Despite this, his mind turned at the thought of more people becoming sick. At this rate, there wouldn't be any of them left; his gaze drifted back to Clarke before it turned to concern at how much she was swaying on the spot. The red circles had become more pronounced in the past few hours that she had been single-handedly dealing with the sick inside the dropship and he watched with worry in his eyes as Clarke's own blue eyes were trying their best to stay open.
"Not to state the obvious, but your quarantine isn't working," he said taking a step forward as he eyed her up and down but all Clarke could do was give him a look that said I am trying, you know?
Suddenly Clarke felt her legs buckle from under her whilst black spots appeared at the edges of her vision. Her eyes never left Bellamy's as the gun she had been holding clattered to the ground and she felt herself slip.
Bellamy made ready to drop the gun he was holding and watched in surprise as Clarke began to collapse before him, as if in slow motion, before taking quick steps forward in a vain attempt to catch her.
"Finn don't touch her!" Raven's voice cried from behind him.
But Finn had beaten him to it.
In Clarke's haze, she became aware that she was in someone's arms and not lying on the ground. Her first thought was Bellamy since he had been the closest but as her eyes adjusted she quickly realised that it was Finn's arms she was suspended in. Her arm hooked around the back of his neck as she tried to remove herself from his arms but instead lay back exhausted as she slipped in and out of consciousness.
"Hey let me go. I'm okay." Clarke made to step onto the ground but Finn's arms held her captive. The fever was burning its way through her body.
"No you're not," he replied with concern on his features.
