Caleb was lying on the gravel, surrounded by fire, blood and death. A battlefield, battlefield which has seen much more than just death and misery, shrouded and covered with bloody mist and bodies of dead and dying soldiers, filled with cries of torture and fear. Begging to be put out of their pain, begging to be released from the agony they felt.

Few remained there, one of them Caleb, not filled with fear but somehow hope, the war had come to an end and he knew the one he loved was at last freed from war and sorrows that it had brought along. Hoping for his one and only beloved to live on, being one Caleb fought for and did what he did. And now...

Unable to open his eyes, slowly bleeding out from a wound in his chest he waited for his time to come, his heart rate slowly deteriorated with each second, however all he hoped for was to see his love one last time. To feel his soft hands caressing his cheek. To look into his dark oak eyes and to be able to hear his beloved voice one last time. He imagined his beloved running towards him, shouting his name, greeting him with warmth and kindness, whispering those three enchanting words to him. However that was only but a dream, a dream which was to never come true, a dream which was fading away with his ever slowing breath. Blood streaming down his white gold armour now the colour of a crimson moon.
Caleb could feel the last of the corrupted light filling his veins. He could feel it clinging to his dying soul like a parasite; the same ideologically, puritan, corrupted light which begun the war, was going to end him right now, drag his soul into the depths of hell.

As Caleb's own light faded all that he was conscious of was the sound around him, he felt that long lusted for sweet voice. Stuttering, choking on tears.
He wasn't as clear in what he said, "...I-I-I.. it's not... it's not going to hurt much longer...", he sobbed as he pressed Caleb's rough palms of hands against his lips. "T-that... light is n-not having you... I-I-I'm not going to let that happen...Caleb..."
He got a grip on Caleb's hands as strong as his own power allowed him for to have, in seconds after what he said he started whispering, quietly chanting, an incantation, Hex was going to give him his all.

"By air and earth,
By water and fire,
So be you bound,
As I desire
By three and nine,
Your power I bind
Cord go round
Power by bound
Light revealed
Now shall be sealed
From now until it's now again
After which the story ends
I give up my gift to share
Life may leave my being
Guide it to him
Through the air-"
He stoped, everything stoped, at last he fulfilled his promise to Caleb, he did all he could for that one and only person. He gifted him... the gift of life. As he fell to the ground next to Caleb now unconscious, with his last breath he whispered those three magic words, last thing he was ready to give up, he gave...
He gave away his life to save Caleb.

For all Caleb felt when he was in his deep slumber was warmth, he felt more happiness than he ever wished for. But for all he knew his love was leaving him, the one he fought for was no longer there.

"Caleb..." again that warm voice called him.
He turned his head, his surrounding were only a thick fog the colour of the sky at dawn, amber and magenta fiery tones which were intertwined with white and blue tones floated around him. Looking around he looked for the owner of the melodic voice when again, he heard..."Caleb...", this time a whisper right into his ear. Caleb bolted his head to his right. Nothing. Nothing apart from a sudden feeling of guilt and a pain in his chest. "H-hex?!", he felt a warm tear glide along his cheek, down to his jaw line, and he stopped shouting at last with a sudden hand wiping the tear. It was his hand, it felt just like it did back then. Before the war. Before Caleb lost him...
"If you cry, I will cry too. I-I had to save you. I wasn't ready to l-lose you..." as soon as the voice stoped talking and the last word echoed in the realm Caleb was in. He dropped. Caleb fell to his knees...
His sorrowful expression faded to an emotionless one. As he stared into the beautiful abyss as a face formed before his eyes. It was the face of his beloved. Wide oak eyes, porcelain smooth skin, his velvet smooth lilac hair. It fell closer to his and at last he placed one last gentle, genuine kiss on Caleb's lips, a farewell kiss. His expression relaxed at once, he gave into the kiss. He felt Hex's tears fall upon his cheeks, he so badly and desperately wanted hug him, hold him and never let him go... "...I love you...s-so so much..."
but that was the end.
Darkness.
It shrouded Caleb.

Hello people of the Wattpad.
I am me and this is a story I wrote a year ago from this day. It's been sitting in my notes forever. And it's a story of love, loss, fantasy and great adventure so I'll try my best to keep on writing this. Hope you like it and when I release more please keep on going. Although I have settled down for what I'll write for Caleb and Hex I'm still open for different suggestions and little things. So stick along.
