"Erilian! Where's my book?" Eyto yelled.
"I don't know! Ask Esi!" I yelled back as I dug through my chest.
"Don't ask me! I never touched it!" Esi shouted from across the house.
"Stop fighting!" Dad yelled louder.
"We aren't fighting!" I retorted. Finally I found what I was looking for, a textbook I had borrowed weeks earlier. "Is Elore here yet?"
"No!" Mom replied. "Can someone help Eyria with the little ones?"
"It's Erilian's turn!" Six voices responded.
"I'm busy!" I shouted in retaliation.
"Not busy enough!" Eyria shouted. "Get down here!"
I grumbled under my breath and ran downstairs, nearly tripping over Eki and Eve. "Hey!"
Eki shrieked and took off. I grabbed him and Eve and threw them both over my shoulders. "Come on."
"No! No, Uncle Erilian!" They screamed in my ears.
"Eyria! I caught your brats!" I yelled.
"They aren't brats!" My oldest sister retorted as she finally caught up to them. She grabbed them both and propped them on her hips. "Naptime."
They both pouted at me. Eki mouthed "traitor" at me.
I quickly stuck my tongue out at him while Eyria wasn't looking.
The doorbell rang. "I got it!" I yelled and leapt over the couch.
Elari jumped out of the way as I ran to the door. "Watch it, lil bro!"
I ignored her as I flung the front door open. Elore was standing there, probably smiling behind her bandanna. "Hey."
I leaned on the door frame. "Hey."
"Stop trying to be cool." Eevo remarked behind me.
I whipped around to respond, "I'm not trying, I just am."
She rolled her eyes and walked away.
I turned back to Elore. She looked confused. "And...what?"
Oh yeah. Wrong language. "Siblings. Nevermind. Let's go." I walked out before turning back to the house of noise and shouting, "I'm leaving!"
"Stop yelling, you're keeping the kids awake!" Eyria screamed.
I sighed and shut the door behind me. Elore always seemed slightly concerned about my household, but her family consisted of her, her parents, and her two brothers, as compared to mine of me, my seven sisters, my sisters' mates, my niece and nephew, and my parents. There was a big difference.
"So how's Eyto?" She asked as she followed me. "I didn't hear her yelling."
"You should have been here five minutes ago, then you would have." I joked. "She's on bed rest and lost the book she was reading."
"She's on complete bed rest now?"
I nodded. "She's not getting any better. Of course it doesn't help that she won't just stay at her place instead of walking all the freaking way across Ecofetend to come over. But no one's going to tell her that."
Elore sighed. "Family is important you know, be happy she visits."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I'd like my sister to not die and take her baby with her." Elore was too bent on rules and expectations. "I get that people are supposed to visit their parents often, but honestly, she isn't well and she shouldn't be pushing herself so much."
Elore thought about it for a moment. "That's a logical argument, coming from you." She smirked at her own little stab.
"Ha ha." I poked her in the ribs. "Shouldn't you be burying your nose in some cheesy textbook?"
"Probably, but I'm also supposed to be taking a day off to just have fun, or so Mom says. Personally, I think reading is much more fun than hanging out with you." She took another stab.
"What, do I bore you? You think my shenanigans are boring? Do I need to make them more interesting?" I twisted it around.
"Oh gosh, please no." She grimaced. "You'll burn down Ecofetend."
I smirked. "That's what I thought."
She sighed. "You should put your extra time and smarts to good use instead of causing trouble for everyone."
"You say as though I have extra time or smarts."
She gave me a look.
"Well, I'm right, aren't I?"
"You could have extra time if you didn't blow it all on causing problems." She looked straight ahead.
"Yeah right." I rolled my eyes.
I suddenly stumbled, accidentally smacking shoulders with someone else. "Oh, sorry." I apologized quickly, making sure to avoid eye contact. Endermen could be touchy.
"Be careful, Erilian."
"I am careful, I'm the one who's in danger all the--" My words were cut short by a stabbing pain in my chest.
I looked down. A set of claws, sharp and ragged, stuck through the center of my chest. There were tiny pieces of blue-green glass along them, signifying that my heart had been scratched.
I looked back over my shoulder, locking violet eyes with the same enderman I had bumped into. He was aggressive and ready to kill.
I had never gone aggressive before. I didn't know what it felt like. I did now. Kill him. Kill it. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill.
