I still felt responsible for what happened to her. I still feel horrible she lost our child. I wanted so much to be a dad and her a mother. I swear I'd bring those monsters to justice for what they did.

"Are you okay Steve?"
I look up and see Bucky. I nod my head.
"I'm just worried about her".
"We all are. She'll be fine. She made it through it. She just has to recover now".
"Any news on our mission?"
"No".
"Alright".
"I'll keep watch on her. You go get some sleep".

Tony walked in and sat next to me.
"I know this isn't my place to do this but I thought I'd give you this and I know you'll know what to do with it. It was my dad's ring he gave it to my mom and well you know all that anyway. But, you better ask that girl to marry you because none of us have ever seen you this happy and I know you crazy kids belong together".
Later that day me and Athena were told she could go home and her wounds were healing nicely. I pulled one of the doctors aside and asked if she was okay for other things and I was okayed for that.
I drove us back to her house I kept looking over at her and smiling.

I kept thinking about the ring in my jacket I was nervous to ask her to marry me. Maybe it was way too early but the more I thought about it the more my heart wanted to ask her.
We made it to her place and I carried her in because I wanted to. I went into town to pick up take out and flowers for her. We had a candlelight dinner.
"Since I'm home and my body is healing I thought I'd give you a nice surprise".
"Oh really hmmm".
"While you were out I threw a little something together and found a box of rose petals".
"We should go upstairs and find out what it is then".
I carried her up the stairs as I kissed her. I laid her on the bed and kissed her.
"I have a question for you doll".
"What is it?"
I got down on one knee on the bed and opened the box.
"Will you marry me?" I see her nod.

We kissed and I was the happiest man alive I think at that moment.
