Two Kings, One Kingdom (The Chess Chronicle 1)

Prologue - [ Teaser ]

Once upon a time in a kingdom of Ryeon, there is a Queen that cannot bear a child because of a certain circumstances.

The people in the kingdom is very sad because they have no heir to the throne.

So the King and Queen decided to adopt a child. A full grown child.

And his name is Samuel, Crown Prince Samuel...

"Hide my grandson to the safest place away from here! Quick!" He hurriedly gave the crying baby to the servant.

"But your highness! How about you?!" The servant said while handling the baby in his embrace.

"My son is dead! I don't want his son to die too! He will become the king! Save your future king!" The former king cried out.

"Your highness! The enemy is already inside the palace!" One of the soldiers barged in.

"Use the backdoor palace to the rainforest. It will be the safest way to escape!" As he said, they all went out in the room to go to the secret door in the kitchen.

The cries and mourns of the people filled inside the palace.

"Your highness please come with us" but the King just smiled and he kissed the forehead of his grandson.

"If the right time will come. He will come back here to rule the Ryeon kingdom" He removed his necklace and gave it to the baby. "This is our family heirloom. Keep it until that day. Move! Quick!" He said and pushed the servant out of the door. Then he makes sure to cover the secret passage.

He left in the kitchen and together with his remaining few royal guards they fought.

"King Samson! Please surrender yourself to the new government!"

"New government?" The king laughed. "And who do you think will lead you?"

"I am" a man with his royal attire moved forward "How is it father?"

"You! You traitor!" The king burst out his anger "How could you do this to us?! We  treated you as our own!"

He is Prince Samuel, an adopted son of King Samson and Queen Cece. He may be adopted but his adopted parents treated him as their own son.

The Prince laughed evilly. "Treated me well? You didn't father! As that blooded son of yours was born you forgot me then!"

"You're crazy! He's my son! And he's your youngest brother!" The former King shook in anger.

"Yes! I am the eldest! I should be the one on the throne and not him!" He blurted out.

"He is the legitimate to the throne! And you... You're a bastard!" The Prince frowned at the statement of his father.

"How dare you!" He said angrily. "Anyhow, you have no choice then! Your legitimate son is now dead! I am qualified to replace the throne!" He laughed evilly.

"If your mother sees how you become, she will be so disappointed in you" he said. "And I wouldn't let you succeed!" And he drew his sword towards his son's direction.

He regretted that he let this demon ruin his family!

"Oh yeah? Then tell her Hello for me... Father" he faked-sweet smiled. "Kill them! Take care of them as I will prepare myself for the next scene" he turned his body "farewell father..." And he walked away.

The former king gritted his teeth in anger.

"SAMUEL YOU BASTARD! YOU WILL DIE WITH ME!" He rushed forward but he was stopped with a sharp pain in his gut.

Someone stabbed him with a sword—his son's sword.

"No father, if I die too what will happen to Ryeon?" He smirked. "Don't worry father I will take good care of our people" and he drew out the sword from his father.

King Samson tried to lift his sword but Prince Samuel held the sharp edge of the sword. Blood flows out from his hands.

"Now we're even father" he slid forward to his hands until he clasped the sword's handle.

"Y-you're a psycho!" He blurted.

The Prince snatched the sword from his grip.

His sight starts to get blurred.

"I lost too much blood. I don't know if I can make it too long"

"Father! Father! Please don't die!" He gritted his teeth. All his life he did everything to protect his family but he didn't see this time that he will protect his family from his crazy son!

Please God take good care of my grandson. It's up to your will now.

He didn't realize he was slumped on the floor already. Dark spots start to cover his sight.

My love, we will see each other again.

And everything went black.

Sypnosis: King Samson is a former king and Queen Cece his wife. Prince Samuel is his adopted son out of desperation because Queen Cece had a difficulty to bear a child.

After another year, Queen Cece conceived a child miraculously, and she bore a son named Crown Prince Samson II but unfortunately Queen Cece died in giving birth to the Crown Prince.

Crown Prince Samson II had a wife and conceived a son. King Samson loves his grandson so much.

Now, Prince Samuel felt jealous of his younger brother. He thought everything his brother got, it must be him! And because of his selfishness he plotted a war against Ryeon, against his family.
