Okay, so this is a time skip to like 6 months after the mall trip and. (Y/N) has been going to school (the baby bird looks like this)

"(Y/N)! Can you come here?" Laurel said, breaking the girl's concentration from her home work.

(Y/N) walks down half of the stairs before she notices a familiar pillar of silver hair, her expression brightening as she runs down the rest of the steps and jumps into his waiting arms.

"Mr. Polnareff!" She says happily as he hugs her tight, spinning around with a chuckle.

"My my, you've grown quite a bit haven't you?" He said as he set her down.

She giggles as he ruffles her hair, before Laurel walks out of the living room, chuckling as she leans on the doorway.

"Look mama! Mr.Polnareff's here!" (Y/N) replied as the Frenchman held her on his hip, his face flushing lightly as Laurel and him smile at each other.

"I see that, Starshine, dinner is ready and Miss. Holly will be here any minuet, go on ahead and sit at the table okay?" Laurel says chuckling as (Y/N) is set down, placing a shy kiss on the tall Frenchman's cheek, causing a red blush to spread across his cheeks.

(Y/N) nodded and went to the dining room. She had grown quieter after she had begun going to school and had been smiling less. Laurel worried that she wasn't getting along with the other kids and what that would mean for the child as she grew up. She knew (Y/N) was different and that can sometimes be a hard thing for a kid to be, but through all of this, (Y/N) smiled for the most part when she was around those she cared for. Though the lack of smiles may be due to more and more missions that the foundation had been sending her on, taking her in the middle of the night while Laurel slept, leaving only a vague note for her and coming home days later only to go to her room and lock herself inside, coming out the next morning and cooking breakfast for the both, sometimes three of them.

Sighing laurel rubs the bridge of her nose, a tik that Polnareff had picked up on.

"She's going to be okay. She's a strong girl." Polnareff says quietly

"I know, I just can't help but worry...I know I didn't give birth to her, but she's still my baby, I raised her, you know? She isn't just a weapon to me." Laurel responded as she clenches the sleeves of her shirt with anger and fear. "I'm just worried that one day she won't make it back."

Polnareff can see that Laurel is close to tears and embraces her, careful not to suffocate her with his muscular chest, tangling his fingers in her hair to comfort her.

"Shhh... It's alright..." Polnareff says lightly, breaking the woman's resolve not to cry, a sob racking her frame as she latches onto the Frenchman's dress shirt as if it's her life line, her tears staining the soft cotton fabric covering his muscular chest.

Though her tears are muffled, (Y/N) can hear everything that has happened, her heart falls. She feels like she's to blame, for all the times she comes home to her mother's tear stained face, a small but definitive plop is heard as a tear falls from the small child's face, she had finished eating the rice and broccoli that Laurel had made but made no move to go back upstairs, not wanting to see Laurel, a woman who she had grown to look up to crying. Instead, she walked out the kitchen's door and climbing the tree in the yard, hiding in the foliage and watching the sun set, she stays there for a while, as she allows herself to calm down, her three Fathers giving her space by sitting at the bottom of the tree, speaking softly with each other.

Further up in the tree, (Y/N) watches a family of hawks perch in their nest, all snuggled happily together, curious, she approaches them. The largest one, more than likely the father steps Infront of the family, puffing it's chest as a warning.

"I won't hurt you Mr.bird... Gosh your pretty though, your family is" she replied softly, hand outstretched to it.

It's golden eyes look into her green ones which sparkle softly with kindness. The large male comes closer hesitantly, only for one of the babies to fall out of the nest falling to the ground, she sees this and jumps from the tree, startling the large bird and her Fathers as she dove past him, in mid air, she lightly grasps the baby and turns them around, creating a soft landing for the baby, but a hard landing for her, landing awkwardly on her arm, only a whimper escaping her.

Her Fathers' forms surrounding her, asking her questions. The commotion drawing the couple outside, joining the questions asked to the disoriented girl. She only sits up, cradling a wailing hawk (baby birds are very vocal when their scared omg) and looking up.

"I didn't want it to get hurt, so I caught it." The little girl said, stopping the torrent of questions from the concerned adults around her.

Laurel's eyes filled with tears again, startling the small girl, not knowing why her mother was crying, but feeling guilty for it and looking down ashamed.

"I'm sorry mama, I didn't mean to make you cry." (Y/N) says apologetically, eyes focused on the chick in her hands, which had calmed down and stared up at her with its back eyes.

"Why are you apologizing? You saved the bird..."Laurel said

"The father is coming" stated Wamuu simply, he brown eyes glinting in the setting sun.

The large bird landed in front of the family, eyes trained on (Y/N). They looked at each other as they had many times before. After this, the girl smiles and holds out her hands, showing the baby bird cupped in her hands. It chirps happily at the sight of its parent.

"Here you go Mr.Bird, she's safe.". (Y/N) coos quietly, the large bird coming closer to her.

He comes close to her, nuzzling the girls cheek in thanks, then takes the baby back to the nest with a flap of his wings.

The group sat around her, Polnareff placing a large hand on her head. Smiling down at her proudly.

"You did good kid, you did good"
