I appreciate all your patience. I have just have so much going on so this will be a longer chapter. :)The phone buzzed again and a message said, "Stand by for more instructions." I had misgivings about the texts because I was so afraid of being kidnapped again. Then my freedom would be nothing but a distant memory, I do not think they would allow the mistake that allowed me to become free again. I was terrified to be captured but I also wanted to know so I decided I would meet this stranger but I would set the time and place.. The more public the better. I texted back. "Look, I'm sure you're aware I was kidnapped. How can I trust you? Can I pick the time and place?" I hit send. After a few moments my phone buzzed again. "I understand your hesitancy, you may chose a time and place but I must warn you, come alone. You cannot trust everyone you think you can."
I gulped and stared around again. This was way out of my wheelhouse. I had no idea what to expect and it scared me that they wanted me to come alone. I decided to meet them at the most public place I could think of. "Valerie's, 7 PM tomorrow night" The reply was quick, "okay, it is a plan. "
I was staring at my phone with a lot of emotions pegging me when my mom's voice snapped me out of my revere. "Are you ready?" She asked. I gave a little start and she laughed. "Sorry didn't mean to scare you." "Yes I am ready, and it's okay.." She nodded and retreated in the house. I followed her and walked towards the front door and out to her car. She drove an older model Chevy Equinox. I climbed in the front seat and she climbed in the drivers.
Once she started driving I decided to just put it out there. "Mom?" "Hmm?" She asked casting a sideways glance my way. I stared at her face as the words rolled off my tongue. "Who is Elliot?" Her face went stony for a moment. She looked both shocked and uncomfortable. "How do you know that name?" I stared at her harder. "I saw a picture of one of grandma's old photo albums last night. " Her face relaxed and she said, "Elliot was your grand fathers brother, but with some bad blood.. Your grandfather decided to never see him again. I barely remember him."
I could tell that she was holding something back but I didn't press her. I probably knew more about him than she did, hell even knew more about grandpa than she did. "Oh.." I said awkwardly. "I'm sorry I was just curious." She smiled. "It's okay. No harm now foul." She made minimal effort for small talk as we went to the nail salon. We both got our nails done and returned home. I had to get ready for my date with Bridger. My stomach gave a little leap and I smiled to myself.
After I got home I decided to dress up as best as possible. I went through my closet and found my high waisted shorts. I slipped them up my slightly curvy figure and buttoned them up. I went through my closet again and came across a loose fitting vintage shirt. It was flowy and soft. It was a creamy white and had small black flowers on it. I went over to my vanity and began putting on my makeup. It took about thirty minutes for me to get my face into a decent looking mask.
I stared into the mirror at my reflection. My eyes we're a soft smokey look. The lids were painted with shimmery gold, and my crease set with a deep brown, buffed out to a nice soft brown on the outside. I had winged eyeliner. My false lashes, and a beautiful peachy pink nude color onto my lips. My cheeks had a soft rosy glow and I had a nice golden shimmer Irredesent highlight. I slipped on my low cut socks and pulled on my black converse high tops.
I decided to curl my hair. I was slowly curling it making sure it had extra bounce.. when my cell phone began to buzz. It was Bridger. I smiled and answered on the third ring. "I will be there in 30 minutes to pick you up, m'lady." I giggled and said, "okay, cannot wait." We hung up and I went into panic mode. I curled my hair as quickly as possible finishing in about 15 minutes. I twisted up the top layer in a small bun at the top of my head. It was very cute.
I slipped on my grandmothers emerald necklace that she left me. It hung down my neck in a very complimenting way. I checked my reflection again and decided I looked pretty damn cute. I checked my watch. He would be here in about five minutes. I headed down the hall into the living room. My family was sitting on the couch watchinh something on Netflix. My phone buzzed. "I'm here." I smiled so brightly. "He's here!" I said to my family. My mom was beaming when the door bell rang. I almost skipped to the door. I opened it and gasped softly to myself.
Bridger looked so handsome. His hair was perfect, he had on a pair of excellent blue jeans that fit him perfectly, black vans, and a tight fitted seafoam green shirt. His eyes were bright and striking. His smile was perfect and absolutely blinding. He walked into the house and hugged me tightly. He smelled so great. The Cologne tickled my nose and made me breathe in deeply. He smiled down at me but pulled away quickly. My family had gotten up and were all crowding around us. He beamed even brighter at them. He walked up to my mother and hugged her. "My name is Bridger. " She smiled and said "It's great to finally meet you! I'm Elenor but you can call me El everyone does." He nodded and hugged my sister and brother too. "I'm Emilia" Said my little sister blushing scarlet. My brother eyed him suspiciously. "The names Emmett" He said eyeing him. "I love the whole E thing! Lovely to meet you all." Said Bridger with a bow.
They made small talk for a little bit and then Bridger said as polite possible honey in his voice. "I hate to end this gathering but we really must be going!" Everyone said goodbye and we headed out the door. He has a newer model black Jeep Renegade. It was very nice and sparkled in the light from my front porch. The sun was about to set. The sky was a soft pink, a deep plum, and a forget me not blue. It set beautifully behind the mountain tops.
He clicked the button on his keys and the doors unlocked. He walked to the passenger side and opened my door for me. I smiled brightly at him. "Thank you, handsome. " He smiled back. "You're welcome beautiful." He shut my door and came around the car. "I was thinking of dinner and a movie but you look so beautiful I want to show you off and you cannot do that in a dark theater." My cheeks flushed with color. "Okay, where to?" He chuckled and said "It is a surprise, Emerson."
