The next morning came, and I put my plan into action. I first had to wait for one of the guys to wake up before I could leave, so I just started breakfast. Eventually, Kyo woke up saying, “Morning, what’s for breakfast?”

“The usual.”

“Okay, so any weird dreams lately?”

“No… I’m going to go to the hot spring after breakfast.”

“Oh… okay, that’s fine.

We had breakfast, but Ryoma didn’t seem to want to wake up, so I just left his food by his bed. I left the shelter and started for the cave. I reached the cave, lit a torch, and entered the secret tunnel. It really was a beautiful sight with the crystals sparkling in the walls. As I walked, I saw a crystal that was orange, and when I came closer, it turned red. I thought that maybe it was the light, so I pulled the torch away, and saw that it was orange again. I thought that was kind of cool, so I took a little souvenir.

Once I reached the end, I thought about Kyo, and the crystal turned pink. Then I thought about Ryoma, and the crystal was still pink.

“Who? Who is the one?!”

All of a sudden, the crystal started to fog up with colors. The colors were orange, red, black, and blue. I didn’t understand what was going on, but then I tapped the crystal and it turned orange. I remember orange was confused, so this thing was right.

“Damn it, can you tell me anything?”

The crystal fogged up again, but this time there was only red and blue. For some reason, I felt like I’ve seen these colors before. I decided to come back later when I knew what the colors meant.

I took a quick bath in the spring and then headed back for the shelter. When I came in, Ryoma was still asleep, but Kyo was awake, just relaxing.

“That took you a while; did the princess want to take her sweet, precious time in the hot spring?”

“Oh be quiet, I just had to run a quick errand on the way there.”

That was partially the truth, but I honestly didn’t really care about the bath. Right now, I was confused about the colors that were fogging up the crystal. Kyo seemed to be staring at my pocket, and then asked, “What’s in your pocket?”

Crap! I forgot about the crystal! Damn it, how the hell do I get out of this?!

“Oh, my pocket. It’s just a… just a… a rock! Just a rock.”

“Okay, I was just asking. Are you lying to me?”

“What? Me lie? That’s crazy talk. Why would I lie about a rock?”

He stared at me for a moment, shrugged, and then looked away. Whew, I’m in the clear… hopefully. Thank god he didn’t find out. If Kyo found out, he would probably ask what I was doing there in the first place. I didn’t want him or Ryoma to know what I asked the crystal in the first place. If they found out, they might get really pissed at me.

The day went by, and the sun set. The guys and I had dinner, and then fell asleep, well, the guys did. I stayed up, thinking about what the colors meant. The first time, the colors were orange, red, black, and blue. Either that meant I had a combination of confusion, anger, fright, and sadness, or something completely different. I’m pretty sure I didn’t have a combination of the emotions, so it had to be the second choice.

Then the second time I asked, the colors were narrowed down to red and blue. I was even more confused at this point. I mean, how could someone be mad and sad at the same time? I thought about it, then realized Kyo had red eyes and Ryoma had blue eyes. Then I thought about the first time, and then I remembered that Kyo’s hair was orange and he had red eyes, and Ryoma had blue eyes and his hair was black. I’m not really sure if that makes any sense, but I thought that maybe, I didn’t love one of them more. I loved them equally, and that’s why the colors were mixed. And then the second time, the crystal tried to make it easier to understand, so it only used their eye colors. No sé (I don’t know in Spanish).

I decided I would go back to the cave again tomorrow and see if I could get anymore info. The next morning, it was raining. I was really pissed, thinking ah come on! Out of all times for it to rain, it has to be when I want to go outside. Great, just great.

Kyo woke up, not saying anything sarcastic for once or calling me princess.

“Morning, what’s for breakfast?”

“Do you really have to ask? It’s the same thing every morning.”

“True, I don’t feel very—“

Kyo ended up puking outside, right in front of the door.

“Dude, you are definitely staying in today. You’re definitely sick.”

“No, I’m fine. It’s just a little food poisoning.”

“Don’t try to tell me you’re fine! You’re staying in today.”

“No, seriously, I’m fine. I’ll even go get some water.”

Kyo got to the door, and then almost fell as he tried to walk out. He got lucky I caught him, or else his face would’ve landed in his own puke.

“Dude, you’re not okay. Just relax and I’ll take care of everything. Plus, we don’t even need to go to the stream for water. We just need to stick a bucket out the door.”

“Then what about lunch and dinner?”

“Ryoma and I will take care of that. Speaking of which, Ryoma still isn’t awake.”

I went to wake Ryoma up, but he seemed pretty out of it. I put my hand on his forehead to see if he had a fever, and he did.

“Damn it, not you too. Fine, I’ll just have to take care of everything myself. Why are you guys even sick anyways? It’s not like you’ve done anything to make you feel like this.”

“I don’t know, I’m just going to go back to sleep.”

“Alright, I’m going to go get lunch and dinner. You stay in bed, and here’s a bucket just in case you feel sick again.”

I placed the bucket in between Ryoma and Kyo, then left. I had absolutely no clue how they got sick, but I still had to take care of them. I thought that maybe it was something in the cave. It couldn’t have been the giant crystal because all three of us touched it, and only the two of them got sick. I thought about it, and then thought I would go check out the cave after lunch to see if I could find any ideas of what might’ve caused this.

I found a giant cow, or so I thought it was a cow, slaughtered it, and then took it back to the shelter. I made the guys some stew out of the water and meat, and then I had to feed them because they were just that sick.
