I awoken to a clatter downstairs in my apartment. Well... the apartment is Li's but she is always gone because of her being the head maid and all. I hopped off my bed and got dressed in one of Li's over-sized sweaters since it was cold. It was colder than usual, so I checked the monitor only for it to say 71 degrees. Why so cold I thought as I silently whimpered. I made some waffles and chose a comfy but more presentable outfit and then I walk to school. I checked my I-Phone that Li recently got me: 6:50 am~Oct. 27th, 20XX. School starts at 7:30 and it takes 20 minutes to get to school if I run.... I'M GONNA BE LATE! I started sprinting down the block, fighting the wind that is blowing against me, throwing my hair back. I finally reached the school at 7:10 am and went to the roof top where me and Caroline are supposed to meet. As I slowly walk up the stairs to the second floor I hear people snickering and giggling
"Well, well, well, speak of the devil" "Shhhh! She's gonna hear you!" "So?" "Pathetic" "Useless"
I ignore them and speed up my pace, their sweet-nothings lingering in the air. "Ash!" I hear a familiar voice yell. A tall girl with Blonde hair in loose pigtails came over beaming her braces like they were gold. She was amazing.... perfect.... everything that I'm not... She has adorable freckles... She has Shimmering eyes that could seem like they glow in the dark... She is incredible in sports...
Me? Terrible in sports... Dull eyes that almost appear dead... Although I am good grade-wise... Math 100 Social Studies 100 Science 100 ELA 100 Gym 100 Thankfully the Gym grade only counts as a participation grade and not performance or I would've died, figuratively of course.

Before I knew it Caroline was blabbing on about a new student who apparently was "hot" to her standards. She showed me a picture of one of his recent snap chats and he honestly looked like a playboy. I tried to not role my eyes and smile but I ended up not doing both. whoops She stared at me with a playful glare and answered with "you have no taste" and started telling me what kind of boyfriend she wants and who she thinks is cute while I listened. Don't get me wrong, I prefer to be quiet and listen, it's the only thing I can do without messing up mine and others lives. Listening tells you things that you could never find out by yourself or by talking. I was lost in my own thoughts until I heard the bell ring. I went to my bottom locker and got my books and notebooks for my first classes. While I was walking to home room I heard Abel, I think, talking with his friends. Something about how "Girls are only maids" quote on quote. BOIIIIIIIIIIIIII IMMA 'BOUT 2 SLAP U I thought as rage was slowly building. I ignored the urge to give him justice and sat in the back of the classroom. The teacher was scowling 2 kids who where yelling at each other in the library. Poor books, having to hear such a ruckus... I thought while shaking my head. I walked to first period where I saw a kid with a face mask in the back of the class. I put my books down under the desk and started writing down notes. The Teacher told us that we had a project due in two weeks and she will assign partners. She said that to "open us up a little bit" paired me up with Face-mask kid, Neo. He mumbled something and walked over and gave me a piece of paper with an address on it. "Here..." he mumbled before walking out of the classroom. I must have tilted my head in confusion because he looked back and said "It's where I live, Idiot" I gave him the shut-yo-mouth-up-befo'-I-shut-you-up face. After I knew it the bell signaled it was time to go home. Well... not me. I had to do a project at a boy's house, not to mention, everyone else had a partner that was of the same sex. EXCEPT FOR ME, now I have to go to a BOY'S HOUSE, actually he has a brother too... BOYS' HOUSE! I've been screaming internally for about the entire walk because I almost passed his house which is kinda, really, very hard to do. I knocked on the door and a maid answered calmly "How may I help you- Ash?" "Mom?!" I worded out, tilting my head in the process. Li opened the door wider to welcome me in. "Got your text... I didn't know you got paired up with Abel though?" Li asked. I shook my head "no" and worded "Neo". Li made an o shape with her mouth and told me to follow her. "I have to introduce you to someone first!" She said with a smile as we walked into a office-like room. A man who looked like Neo with glasses was sitting at a desk. Li introduced me to Mr. Noah while I looked at all the family pictures. Although one specifically caught my eye... It was a picture of Neo and Mr. Noah... although the frame was crooked and the glass casing was cracked. The picture almost looked like it was depressed and wilting.

I've never seen Neo smile before... probably no one does. Li then takes me to Neo's room where I see him playing with a lil' puppy. The dog automatically jumps off the bed and pounces on me, dragging me to the floor and licking my face. I lightly nudge the dog off me and sat up wiping the dog "kisses" off my face with the back of my sleeve.
