Acacia didn't obliviate him. She could've but she didn't and she was never once tempted.

James saw her at her vulnerable state and she didn't just want him to move on and carry on only knowing her as the girl he saved from drowning one night at the black lake.

For the second time they ended up waking next to each other and James left but not after making sure she will be okay alone.

She asked the room for a bath and spent almost an hour just replaying last night's events while the soapy water wrinkle her fingers.

James was glad she didn't remove his memory of her crying and venting on him because she now knew her story. She saw depth in the girl's character and she's not just some typical student you'll meet and forget about in 5 years.

"Where were you last night?" Sirius who sounded like a strict Father asked James when entered their dorm. Remus wanted to laugh at how out of character the boy was acting but Sirius treated James as his brother.

He worried that he's getting himself into trouble. Well their group almost always gets in trouble but at least that way they're all in it together and knew what the other was doing.

"I was with River." Sirius Black's worry immediately got washed away and his infamous smirk replaced the frown.

"Did you finally get some my brother?" He asked and James threw the nearest object he could get a hold of towards the boy who dodged the item wide-eyed.

"Bloody hell mate, What was that for?" He asked waking Peter up and he quickly sent an apologetic smile before scowling at James again.

Peter only slid off the bed and headed for the bathroom dragging himself because he's still half-asleep.

"That," He jumped on his bed and embraced the familiar scent of his covers, "Is for having a dirty mind. She just needed my help with something and I owed her so I helped."

Did I mention that James Potter is an expert at lying? Remus shut his book and proceeded to fix his uniform.

"What'd you help her with?" Remus asked hoping to get an actual answer when James rolled on his bed like a dog on a small puddle of mud.

"I promised her I won't tell anyone." James simply replied staring at their blank ceiling and Remus saw an unknown expression flash in his eyes.

"I notice you've been getting a little close to her. Finally getting over Lily then huh?" Sirius asked wiggling his eyebrows and James threw his pillow at the grey-eyed idiot.

"Pads, We both know that me getting over Lily is impossible." The other only snorted in disbelief.

"Moony." He called out to the brunet doing his tie and the boy hummed in response, "How much you wanna bet that before this year ends he's gonna be all over Acacia?"

Remus rolled his eyes indicating that he's not interested while Peter rushed out the bathroom with his toothbrush still in his mouth, "I bet 10 galleons on Lily." Peter chirped almost swallow the bubbles of his toothpaste.

Peter's pretty confident on James not getting over Lily because he witnessed the boy pine on the girl for 5 years now. Surely feelings lasting that long wouldn't be easily replaced by another redhead joining the picture out of nowhere.

"You got yourself a deal." Sirius did finger guns at Peter and turned to James who watched the exchange with a frown.

"James, buddy, you've bee rejected more times than I can count on both hands, Toes included." Sirius batting his eyelashes dramatically, "You're bound to find someone who's willing to say yes."

It sounded like a playful teasing but Sirius did worry about his best friend. He considered Lily who just can't bring herself to even tolerate the boy's existence and her non-existent feelings because you can't force love but he firmly believes his best friend and brother deserve someone who would say yes to him right away, Without hesitance.

"Wormtail hurry up so we won't miss dinner!", James called out after their other friend who returned to the bathroom. Completely avoiding Sirius' words that made alot of sense.

At Breakfast Acacia found herself eyeing the Gryffindor table not so subtly because Clarabell noticed and narrowed her eyes at the girl.

"When are you gonna tell me who it is?" She asked and Acacia scoffed. "I'm not pining over anyone but if you should know, Potter and I are friends now...sort of."

What do I even label our relationship?

He saved her from drowning but she only fell in because his words greatly offended her, He caught her fall but he bumped into her in the first place and he held her at her lowest but came in uninvited.

James Potter was conveniently there and she's a small nudge away from believing fate wants them together

That's bloody silly. Harry needs to be born and nobody has the die.

random fact no on asked for : acacia used to be my name at some point and the memories I made under that name is to not be remembered ever again. so it's just a lil weird for me to use it, i still love the name tho.

I got the name from acacia brinley who at the moment was my role model...
