~Mitchell~

I ran as fast as I could through the forest. Yes, a forest. I was in my cat form and it was almost night. The sun was just sitting on the horizon watching me run. This was my final day of travel and I was supposed to be at the castle but if it weren’t for these shadow horses I would be there already. They are part of the evil side and they will do anything for our eyes. No not, “Oh my gosh that’s a flower!” eye. As in the eye that represents who we are. We all have a different color for our cat’s eye that represents something in the world. You may be wondering why it is needed. Well, if we are separated from our eye, we will become weak until we die. Another reason why they are important is because if it falls in the wrong hands or we die, what we represent will be lost, forever. So, since I am Loyalty, if I die then all loyalty will be lost. If you were thinking of us dying at old age that can’t happen. We can die all ways but aging because at a certain age, we stop growing but still live.

We were all given these eyes for about 19 years for me. Others received them when they were first born, which is the same as me. The world went crashing down but the guardians saved it but they had to sacrifice themselves. When one of us was born, we were given an eye that would represent us. No, it is not in our face but on a necklace which is on our necks.

Well, through all that explaining, I’m still way too far away from the castle. In fact, I’m running in the opposite direction because they came from the direction of the castle. I finally decided to juke them and head back to the path. I looked behind me and noticed the shadows grow longer. Oh no, they’re at their strongest now. That was also bad because I was getting weak. I ran as fast as my paws could carry me. If I could just get near the gate I would get help from the others.

I looked behind me one last time before I made a U-turn to the castle. As I was turning I felt something sharp cut my back. If I screamed then that would gather all the shadow horses and before I would be able to make it to the castle, loyalty would disappear.

I ran faster but I stumbled on a rock, having them gain on me. If I could get to the castle grounds or gate the light would tell them to back off or they would cease to exist. I saw the light and ran faster. A smile formed on my face. Twelve days of travel and I finally made it.

I ran until I felt something large and cold pierce my skin, deeply. I couldn’t hold the pain. I screeched in agony as I was flung to the castle grounds. At least I could get help. I heard muffled voices and rushing of footsteps. I felt someone pick me up but I quickly passed out.
