Brown hair whips past my face, blurring my vision, as my breath is sucked away by wind.
I'm falling, flying fast toward the ground, although not uncontrolled. It's almost as if I'm gliding.
I wonder briefly where I am; it seems vaguely familiar, but the land I'm falling toward doesn't look like any I've ever seen on a map--not that it really means anything...I suck at geography.
I feel my shoulders for something to save me, and I find a backpack, but there is no string for a parachute. I'm free falling, and I'll hit the ground any minute.
But the view is beautiful, and somehow I'm not at all scared of splatting like a bug on a windshield.
At least not from this far up.
I admire the beauty of the land: grand forests, desserts that must span for miles, lakes that sparkle even from all the way up here, mountains topped with snow.
I can't see any people from this height. The world looks deserted.
The trees are getting closer.
I wonder—if I hit enough on the way down—if the branches will break my fall like in the movies. I know that's not logical, but maybe I won't break too many bones from my fall. If I'm lucky.
Panic starts to set in.The trees are the only things i can see now.
Then there's a black blur flying past me.
Another person?
"Hello?" I shout through the noise of the wind. "Is somebody there?"
Nobody answers, but as I'm nearing the trees, I suddenly see it again, a concerned face, and I suddenly feel my body jerk—right before I black out.
