|~*~Die For You~*~|
Arella strummed some chords on her acoustic guitar. She played a song that she hadn’t played in a while. “The walls are breaking down; I think I'm cracking up. I look around, now everything's too much.” She sang. She smiled when she finally had that part perfectly. Best I Never Had by The Downtown Fiction was definitely her favorite song by them.
She was startled by clapping coming from behind her. She turned around to see Drake smiling and clapping at her. “Good to know that you can sing that song perfectly. I would have killed you if you ruined it.” He sat beside her.
“Yeah, the fans want us to do some covers. This has been one of the most requested songs. Plus, it’s a favorite of mine.”
Drake nodded. “So anyway, we never really got to talk last night.” He said. A smirk was fighting its way onto his mouth. “How was your kiss with Andy?” he nudged her.
Arella felt herself blush. She hadn’t gotten any sleep the night before because it kept replaying in her head. It kept her up all night and honestly, she wanted to do it again. But she wasn’t about to tell Drake or anyone for that matter. She didn’t know how to answer Drake, so she just kept quiet.
“By the blush on your face, I take it you liked it.” Drake said. Arella opened her mouth to protest, but Drake beat her. “Hey, it’s okay. I know how you feel about him.”
Arella visibly sank. “I did like it,” she admitted aloud, “But I’m not supposed to!”
“Why’s that?”
“Because he’s hurt me before and I could get hurt again. I know he’s sorry and I know that we’ve decided to forget about it, but I can’t. You can’t just forget about something like that. It’s been years and I’m still not over him. I quit dating because I never wanted to get hurt like that again. And I hate that! I’ve had to turn down so many guys because I was afraid.” Arella spilled out. She didn’t even realize she was crying until Drake wiped away some of her tears with his thumb.
Drake wrapped his arms around Arella and let her cry. “Sh, I know what it’s like to be afraid of falling in love again. I’ve been hurt before, and that caused me to lose someone I really cared about.”
“How?” Arella asked.
“There was this girl… her name was Rose. I fell for her. Hard. And we dated, even though we were thousands of miles apart. We were able to convince her parents to let me move in with her. We already had some problems, but we figured that we could work them out by living together. But things only got worse. So I moved back. And a month later, we were broken up. Then I met someone else, even though I thought I would never love again. But basically, I kept thinking about Rose and how I was hurt. I was hurting the girl I was with at the time by doing that. So I broke up with her because she deserved someone better.”
“So what should I do?” Arella asked.
“Well,” Drake started, “I think that you should just stick to being friends with him. If there really are still strong feelings for you two, and you two decide to give it another shot, then go for it.”
Arella smiled and hugged Drake. “Thanks.”
Drake kissed Arella’s forehead. “No problem, Arella.”
Andy watched the whole scene unfold from the window of his tour bus. His heart nearly ripped in two when he saw Drake’s lips on Arella’s forehead. He looked down at his lap.
I think I really have lost her.
