(A quick chapter dedicated to valentines day <3, Slight steam )
Once Leo and I had bandaged up as many wounded soldiers as we could manage we decided to retire to the conservatory overlooking the kingdom, Leopold would visit me often baring treats and handmade baked goods his mother supplied whenever she felt like baking something for the young lad. I was always grateful for the treats and goodies he would bring me, we would sit in the gardens nibbling on them like teenagers who had stolen them from the local bakery and finally stopped running from the overseers of the law to indulge in the fruits of our labours. He made me feel carefree like a child which was welcomed. The kingdom had been much to deal with as we were no longer an export-led continent, our magic and goods being the only way to fuel our economy. As the war over the stick developed our humble kingdom had become a fortress, paths were made to avoid the woods and magic spread through them to purposely trick people into making wrong turns, you could only get in if you had a guide who knew the way past the magic labyrinth. Butters had a hard time finding us, he was lost in the forest for days until he found a merchant who led him home to me.
Over his time visiting us he began to pick up a few things, watching me fawn over wounded men all day during his visits taught him something about magic and healing. His alter ego 'chaos' was very good at it. Having a visit from 'chaos' was always an amusing time.
Sitting in the wooden chairs of the conservatory Leo and I decided to have the kitchens make us some pastries, he had an affinity for creamy sweets and custard. "How long do you plan to stay with us this time then Butters?" My eyes drifted over to him leaning back in his chair, gawking at the sunset. No matter how many times we sat and watched it together it never seemed to stop amazing him. "Butters?" I waved a hand in front of his face and he finally paid attention to me. Flushing bright red as I giggled at him. His cute pointed nose scrunched in embarrassment as he began to answer.
"Just the night, the king needs me for important top-secret business!" My ears twitched as I rested a hand on my palm. "Important business huh? Mind telling me?" He visibly twitched, squirming in his seat under my gaze. "Oh, uhh. King Cartman told me not to say anything..." His eyes cast downwards and I frowned, scooting a little closer. "Are you sure you don't want to tell me?" watching the blonde boy bite at his lip I saw him unravelling, beginning to open his mouth.
"M'lady!" A shrill voice shouted, opening the door wide and coming into the room. Rolling my eyes I looked to see a fuming Bebe, messy haired and a thick frown on her face. "What is it?" I groaned at her, noticing the pile of letters in her hands.
"That thief you entertain like some stray cat broke one of our pots!" She spoke with venom which made me giggle. "He means no harm." I grinned at her as she placed the letters on the table between Butters and me flushing as she began to complain about him some more, completely forgetting Leo's presence next to us. "He might mean you no harm but the kitchens are a state! We are weeks short on our shipment of tomatoes because of that stray!" She put a hand in her messy mop and sighed deeply. "While I do appreciate his services to the kingdom he should not be allowed to get away with what he does! He broke through a window last week trying to get in! He doesn't even bother using the front door! One of these days he's gonna do something that puts us all in trouble." I giggled at her anger which caused her to flush even more.
"Bebe honestly, he's not a bad man just misunderstood. Maybe if you took the chance to talk with him-" I was cut off by her shrill shriek. "I tried M'lady! He refuses to speak with me or the other maids. He's a no good trouble maker if you ask me, his handsome face hides his terrible attitude well." she gave a thick 'humph' and before I could respond Butters let his presence be known with a short and quiet cough. Bebe crossed her arms, straightening her posture. "Before you leave, who are the letters from?" I asked her retreating figure. "Lord Broflovski and King Broflovski, there was one from a woman named Miss Testaburger and from a Donovan and Marsh." She nodded to us as she walked to the doors, bowing as she closed them. "Good day." she mused.
