Wandering through the forest Leaf was getting a bit restless. She hadn't seen anyone in forever and was getting a bit tired of walking. "Vulpix, let's take break," sending out her pokemon. They sat beneath the tree, Vulpix on Leaf's lap. Leaf sighed, "I wish we could find some other pokemon." She rubbed her little pokemon's head, "Then we'd have some more friends." The little vulpix chirped happily in response, or whatever sound vulpixs make. After sitting for a while Leaf nodded off. It only took a short period of time for her to wake with a start, causing Vulpix to tumble of her head, where he had been sleeping. "Oh, I'm sorry Vulpix. How long were we asleep?" Looking up at the sky she saw something moving in the branches. "What is-" Before finishing her sentence the green shape lost it's footing and tumbled onto Leaf's lap.

It shook it's head and look at Leaf's face with big, watery eyes. "What are you?" Leaf carefully watched it as she pulled out her pokedex and Vulpix started to get curious about the green worm. "Caterpie, the caterpillar pokemon," There was trusty Dexter with his handy-dandy knowledge. "Caterpie eh?" She tilted her head at the happy little pokemon. "I know I'm supposed to battle a pokemon to catch it, but I don't want to hurt you." She carefully petted it's head and it just made a happy squeal. "Awww, look at you. Do you wanna travel with me?" Vulpix tilted his head at Leaf, watching with interest and slight jealousy. The little Caterpie's eye started to sparkle and it excitedly squealed in approval. Leaf chuckled and simply held the pokeball in her hand which pulls the pokemon in. Holding her breathe as the ball twitches from side to side. A final clink and the ball quit shaking, causing Leaf to release her breathe. She immediately sent the pokemon back out. "I'm glad you decide to join us!" Picking up the pokemon, Leaf patted her leg for Vulpix to follow and they continued walking again. And so, our heroine has gained a new friend and is drawing closer to her first city.
