Theo

Ice cold fingertips, visible colorless veins, pale lips, are indications of the non-living according to social protocol but from the most credible source: Experience. I can verify that death is instead an ice cold heart, a colorless view and a pale mind..

My orbs payed attention to every word as each one captivated me more than the last. It had been a while since I had been moved by a written piece of one of my students, not only was the concept deeply thought and beyond the maturity level of a twelve grader, the piece was also filled with powerful analogies and subliminal messages which he or she led the reader to discovering.

After reading and grading the assignment, my eyes flew to the students name with curiosity. Mercedes Yale.

I had only begun working as an English teacher at 'Randford Academy' a week ago and had not yet familiarized myself with all my students. So I was not able to pair the name to a face. Noting to compliment their writing tomorrow, I arranged my desk before leaving.

Arriving home, my nose was greeted with the aroma of goodly cooked food.

"Babe, is that you?" Ash yelled from the kitchen.

Choosing to give her a small fright, I didn't respond. Instead silently crept my way behind her as she focused on the stove before quickly wrapping my arms around her waist and picking her up.

"Theo!" She exclaimed as she burst into a fit of giggles.

"How'd you know it was me?" I asked in disappointment of my failed attempt, before setting her down and placing kisses on her fair skin.

"I know your scent."

I placed another peck on her head before loosening my tie.

"What's for dinner? Smells good."

"You'll see once you come back down from your shower."

"Come on, have me looking forward to something." I tried to peek over her height to see what was on the stove before she gently pushed me away.

"No. Now go." She led me to the staircase and spanked my behind before winking and returning to the kitchen. I chuckled and proceeded up the stairs as I undid the buttons of my shirt.

I opened the door and was about to make my way to the joined bathroom when I saw a white object laid on tissue paper, next to it lay a white  rose on top of our Japanese bed, which made me stop in my tracks.

Not sure of whether my assumptions were correct as to what it was. I gazed around the room before looking back to the door as I heard footsteps approach. Ash leaned against the door frame with her arms crossed and a nervous smile on her face. I gave her a questioning look.

"Look at it." She said

I knelt picking up the white stick and studied the bars then allowed my eyes to set on her.

"You're going to be a father."
