"Dammit Justin!
How many times do I have to tell you to PAY THE FUCK ATTENTION on how you handle my product?
How many times do I have to tell you that being careless can render a cut of meat useless?
That's money out of my pocket that I don't get back!
That's potentially a threat to me losing my fucking shop.
How stupid are you boy?
You lack the capability to retain any fucking information!
You just wait until we get home, you worthless piece of shit!"

"No dad.... I.... I promise I wo...won't mess up again!
Please don't..."

"Stop stutterin like a pussy, and MAN THE FUCK UP!"

It was may 21, 2007 in Sulphur Louisiana.
Justin Wells was a 16 year old boy working for his abusive father, Joey Wells, in the family butcher shop.
Under any and every occasion he was in his father's presence, it was
unpleasant for Justin to say at the very least.
At work it was only verbal, but at home... At home it was beyond that by miles.
What made it worse is the fact that his stepmother Taylor and step brother Aiden acted like nothing was happening.
No matter how many times he had begged for help...
No matter how many times his screams of desperation reverberated through the hallways, they were ignored.
They acted completely oblivious, sometimes just cranking up the TV to avoid hearing it all together.
This had been going on since Justin was only 12 years of age.
Only months after his mother, Dianna Wells, had passed away from her battle with breast cancer.
To make matters even worse, Joey treated Taylor and Aiden like royalty!
Pampering his wife and treating Aiden like son of the fucking year, every... day!
Not once had he ever lashed out on either of them.
Buying Aiden new clothes and video games.
Playing catch with him and laughing like a normal, loving father should.
Leaving Justin in the dark, with permanent phycological damage from years of neglect and abuse.

It was getting late, and Joey started drinking his favourite alcoholic beverage.
A handle of Jim Beam straight from the bottle.
This always led to one very unpleasant outcome....

After Joey spent about half an hour tossing Justin around like a fucking ragdoll, he passed out drunk on the couch as usual.
Justin sat on his bed with an emotionless expression on his face. looking at a picture of his mother hanging on the wall in front of him.
Justin began feeling a foreign sensation manifest deep within his roots.
A rage that had been accumulating since the day of his mother's passing.
A feeling so overwhelmingly powerful, it frightened him.
For the first time, Justin was seeing red and having difficulties controlling his anger.
That's 4 years of nonstop verbal and physical assault by his miserable drunken excuse of a father!
That's 1,460 days of being treated like absolute shit!
That's 35,040 hours of wondering if he'd end up dead by his father's hands.
That's 2,102,400 minutes of anxiety and helplessness consolidated into one terrified, confused teenager!

The only time Justin felt safe was when his father got too inebriated to leave the shop and go home for the night, or at school with his best friend, Amanda Granger.
Amanda was 5'4 with short brown hair, a slim body, and lovely Hazel eyes.
Weighing no more than 115 pounds.
She was the only person that knew the true nature of Joey Wells, and the only person that treated Justin like a human being.
She had been his saving grace, his solace, and his escape the past 4 years.
The one and only! individual who cared for him as his mother did.

"Why do you put up with this crap Justin?
I mean it's been four goddamn years!
This can't continue any longer!
Things are gonna escalate too far one of these days!"

"Amanda, I've tried telling the police.
You know that.
Nobody else believes me because my dad puts on the best facade in existence. I'll be 18 in two years, so until then I'm just gonna have to endure through this.
Justin said calmly."

"So what? Because your uncle is the sheriff, your dad is impervious to the law?
And what if he fucking kills you before then Justin?
What then?"
