ARRGGGHHHHHHH!!! I swear if I hear one more thing about the stupid fucking dance, I am going to explode!!!!!! Everywhere I go, I would hear about the dates, the clothes, the food! Well, I wouldn't mind the food, they're my babies.

"DARLENE!!!" I turned around to see my best friend, Kyler, running up to me. He is my un-biological brother, if un-biological is a word.

"Hey Kyler, what's up?" I asked as I closed the green locker door. He leaned on the locker next to mine and started to roll his pen between his middle finger and his pointer finger.

"Nothing much, just the usual talk about the dance."

"Ugh, if I hear one more thing about the dance I will get out of this school and puke behind the bushes." I fake gagged. He gave his usual lopsided smirk which seems to get every single girl except me.

"So who's going to be your date for the dance, Darlene?" He asked me as he started drumming on my shoulder. He is a drummer, apparently. I've always wanted to see him play, but overprotective parents are really party poopers.

"Nobody I guess I'm just going to go with you two unless you're going with Red." Red is my nickname for his girlfriend, Ximena. I used to be friends with her, but she thinks I'm trying to steal Kyler away. That girl is bi-polar, I swear to god. One day, she's nice to me, the next day, she's not making any eye contact with me.

"Nah, I don't think she's going." He shrugged.

"Are you?" I asked. He shrugged.

"I got baseball game on the same day. I dunno." Oh yeah, forgot to mention. He's a baseball player.

"Oh? Against who?" I asked as I walked to Math, one of the two classes I have with him.

"Broods Middle School" He answered as he sat at the table across from mine.

"Ugh, I hate Broods. They think they're so perfect." I sarcastically mimicked. Kyler laughed at my expression. I always loved hearing my best friend's laughs.

"Okay class, flip your textbooks to page 84. Today we are solving one-step equations." Our math teacher, Mrs. McGratel, announced. She could always be slightly creepy and sweet at one time. As I was doing stupid equations, a note was thrown at the middle of my book. I opened it up and in purple scribbled handwriting were the numbers 143 with a heart. I smiled at the note, wrote down my response and threw it back to the occupied table in front of me. Kyler read my response, smiled, and stuffed it in his pocket. I smiled back and went to work.

~TIMESKIP: DISMISSAL~

I dragged myself to my room once I was home and grudgingly flopped down face first on my soft comfy baby called the bed. I let out a groan as I remembered tonight was the dance. I took out my phone and started playing music as I chose out my outfit. A particular song played on my speaker and I sung and danced along go the beat.

'Cause the players gonna play, play, play,  play, play

And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,

Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake,

Shake it off, shake it off,

Ah-huh-ha!' I sang along. I chose a green high-low dress with lace tank sleeves and four buttons going down the middle. I slipped it on with black spandex underneath, I don't want no-one seeing my underwear. I lightly curled my hair and clipped my bangs high to the side. I slipped on my black flats and grabbed my black purse. I did my last-minute check ups and smiled. Let's get this party started!
