Sunshine on a Cloudy Day • J-Hope and Suga

3 years before Jungkook.

It was pouring rain outside. It was cold. And it definitely held no place for the young Hufflepuff boy to follow the smaller statured Slytherin to the astronomy tower.

The younger boy knew that this space was a frequent place for the Slytherin boy to come to think. His knees were pulled up to his chest, his faded blonde hair moving with the gentle drafts of wind that came through a nearby window that stood partly ajar. Standing in the entrance way, a soft yellow glow emitted off of the robes the younger wore. He took a tentative step forward. A creak prompted the older boy to speak.

"What are you doing here, Hoseok?"

A gasp escaped the boy's lips. He boldly took several more steps and stopped when he was standing right next to the oldest.

"I heard those guys teasing you again, Yoongi. I figured you would be here."

Yoongi let out a large breath and a soft sob as Hoseok sunk to his feet to comfort his friend.

"It was so many years ago. Jun Ki already left, why can't they leave me alone?"

Hoseok placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. He didn't know how to respond. Yoongi always had a cold and tough facade. It was rare he broke down like this. It made his heart ache.

"I didn't want to be in Slytherin," Yoongi said softly.

"I know."

"Then why do they care so much?"

"I don't know."

Silence filled the room. The only sounds that rang out were the soft sobs from Yoongi, who buried his face in his knees. Comforting him was Hoseok, gently patting his back as he watched raindrops trickle down the windows of the astronomy tower. With his spare hand he reached out and traced the path of a drop that was slowly rolling down. He then had an idea.

"Yoongi, pick a raindrop and we can see who's reaches the end of the window first!"

A sigh came from the older boy, who looked up. His eyes were puffy and red from crying. Hoseok gave him a smile as the April rain sounded against the window. He returned the smile and looked up at the rain drops collecting towards the top.

"Alright, I picked one."

"Okay! Let's see who wins!"

The boys spent an hour tracing the paths of falling raindrops. Before they knew it, Yoongi was smiling as if tears hadn't rolled down his face like the raindrops he was chasing. Soon, however, the draft became too chilly to handle, prompting the boys to leave the room and head back to their common rooms before dinner.

"Next time we should bring up hot chocolate!" suggested Hoseok as the pair neared the dungeon entrance.

"I agree. That would make it a lot warmer."

A smile that rivaled the sun graced Hoseok's face. A gummy one was returned from Yoongi. They said their goodbyes and made their way. A spring found its way into Yoongi's step, and as he reached the cold of the dungeons, he concluded that Hoseok was sunshine on his cloudy days.

I literally just love the song "My Girl" by the Temptations and decided that this cute moment between Hoseok and Yoongi before they started dating in "Magic" should exist.
