With Edmund in the clutches of the White Witch, they all knew that it wouldn't be long before Edmund would tell the White Witch their location.
"Hurry mum, they're after us!"
Mr. Beaver called out as they burst through the door. Mrs. Beaver gasped the seriousness of the situation and began packing food and other stuff for the journey.
"Right then..."
She said "What is she doing?" Susan asked "Don't worry, you'll thank me later and it's a long journey and a beaver gets cranky when he's hungry" Mrs. Beaver explained as the children quickly helped them pack.
"I'M CRANKY NOW!"
Mr. Beaver exclaimed "You are more likely panicking than cranky at the moment" Leandre said. Susan brought in a jar of jam "Do you think we should bring jam?" Peter grabbed a couple of towels to wrap them around and keep them warm.
"Only if the witch has toast!"
Susan gave him a look.

Outside, the wolves stopped dead in their tracks as they stared at the small dam of a house and they growled low on their throats.
"Take them.."
Maugrim snarled as they advanced on the house.
The children froze when they heard howls and scratches from the outside "Oh no, they're here!" Leandre said as they finished packing.
"Quickly, follow me!"
Mr. Beaver said as the wolves kept on digging until a part of the structure of the dam broke off and they were inside only to find the place empty.
Maugrim growled low on his throat as he sniffed the placed and found a scent that led straight to a hidden underground tunnel.
Found you...

"This should lead to Badger's place"
"I thought it lead to your mums!"
The Beavers were the first to enter the tunnel followed by the children as Peter and Leandre held torches to light the way.
Lucy grunted as she tripped and Peter crouched down to help her only for the group to stop when they heard howling.
"They're in the tunnel"
Lucy whispered "Quick!" Mr. Beaver said as Peter hauled Lucy up and let the girls go first with him in the last, if anything should happen...
They stopped when they ran straight into a dead end "You should have brought a map!" Mrs. Beaver said as she turned to her mate.
"Now is not the time to argue!"
Leandre said "There was no room next to the dam" Mr. Beaver said before he began climbing. Leandre quickly let Lucy and Susan go first before she and Peter followed soon after.
"Come on!"
Susan shouted as they sealed the tunnel with a barrel once Peter was out. Lucy screamed once she felt something behind her and froze when she saw frozen statues.
Animal statues.
Once everyone caught their breathes they began to realize they were in a place that was once filled with lively animals. Now it looked like a gravesite with all the snow covering the animal statues.
Mr. Beaver stopped in front if a weasel on its hind legs with its paws stretched out and its face filled with terror. Mr. Beaver grasped on of its frozen hand.
"He was my best mate!"
Mr. Beaver said as he cried silently while his wife comforted him with a hand on his back. Leandre stood in front of a small tea party with the tea frozen on the cup.
"What happened to them?" Susan asked "This is what happens to the enemies of the White Witch" A bright red fox appeared out of nowhere as they all gave startled gasps and jumps. Peter instinctively placed the girls behind him.
"Stand still there traitor"
Mr. Beaver hissed as his wife stood behind him "Relax, I'm one of the good guys" The fox said with an easy smile.
"You look far too relaxed"
Leandre muttered "And you look mighty like one of the bad guys" Mr. Beaver said, still wary of this stranger.
"An unfortunate family resemblance, but we can discuss family breeding later right now we need to move"
Peter looked at the fox with narrowed eyes "What do you suggest?" Better to trust someone who has a plan that would help them than get captured and killed.
***
Leandre hated this plan so much.
They all sat on a frozen tree as the fox stood beneath it. It didn't take long for the wolves to break their barricade and surround the fox.
"Evening gents, Did we lose something?" The fox asked and Leandre was surprised to find the fox still calm and relaxed even though he was surrounded by a pack of wolves that would not hesitate to kill him.
"Don't patronized me, I know where your allegiance lies. We are looking for some humans"
Maugrim growled he took a step forward to the fox "Humans in Narnia, now that's some valuable information" The fox said before Maugrim pounced on him and clamped his jaws on the fox's throat.
Peter held back Lucy from crying out any louder while Susan and Mr. Beaver restrained an enraged looking Leandre.
"Where are they?!"
Maugrim snarled. The fox bent his head down in shame and the occupants on top of the tree feared that he will reveal them where they were hiding.
"They, they were heading North"
The fox answered and Peter let out a sigh of relief. Maugrim threw the fox to the ground as he turned to his pack "Quickly smell them out!" They all ran to where the fox said they were.
When they were gone, Leandre was the first to climb down as she examined the wound on the fox's neck.
"Thank goodness, he didn't clamp right on your jugular, a wound like that could kill you"
Leandre muttered as Peter and Mr. Beaver left to find some suitable wood to make fire.
"Come here dearie, I'll help you"
Mrs. Beaver said as they both quickly went to work to stop the blood from flowing.
With the fire going, everyone made a circle around it. Lucy turned to the fox as Mrs. Beaver patched him up with the skills of an excellent healer
"Are you alright?" She asked the fox with a small hint of worry in her tone "Well, I wish I could say their bark was worse than their bite" He winced when Leandre touched a sensitive part of the wound.
"Stop squirming! You're worse than beaver on bath day"
Mrs. Beaver said in a scolding tone "Worst day of the year..." Mr. Beaver muttered. Once Leandre finished patching him up, the fox slowly stood up.
"Well I am afraid that is all the healing I have time for" Susan turned to him with a look of worry and uncertainty on her face.
"You're leaving?"
Leandre knelt down in front of the fox "You can't just go with a fresh wound like that" Her tone sounded scolding and motherly like at that point.
"It has been a pleasure my Queen. I have been asked by Aslan HIMSELF to gather more troops"
The fox said as he turned to Susan and Leandre wondered if this was the reason why he was all alone.
