Growing up, I was a quiet and observant child. I loved the silence and usually kept to myself for most of the time, apart from being locked up in my room by Ronan, whenever he didn't want to see my face.

Ronan, on the other hand was quite different, he had a weakness of being influenced by his friends, that's why after we were left as orphans, pack members took it upon themselves to ' parent ' us, or in better understanding, groom us into the future leaders of the pack.

My mother passed on first, due to an unknown sickness, leaving my father and her mate, devastated. I admired my father, for how he stepped up and actually took care of us.

There was relief, that at least one parent was left.

Even through his grief, he still gave us the needed attention and comfort. We were still so dependent on him, that when he up and left one night, we both were left lost. In denial, I would wait up till late for him, until my brother told me to give up, because he was not coming back.

My brother wasn't as affected as I was, about our father's sudden departure. In fact, he looked almost relieved, it unnerved me. I soon found out why. Ronan had been hanging around a close friend of my father's quite a lot, the man was a man of a few words, but scary.

There was something about him that didn't irk me the right way, being around him made me super alert and wary of his attention on us, especially me.

After my father's departure, the betas of the pack tried to take custody of us, but for some unknown reason, my father's letter said he wanted the man to be our legal guardian. Thank the heavens for my grandmother, who had put her foot down, wanting us to be under her care. Surprisingly, Ronan said no, because she wanted to stay with the man, Michael.

With that, my grandmother took me away to live with her and I lost contact of Ronan, for some time. Time spent with my gran gave her insight of how different I was.

At first, everything had been normal until my brother came by for a visit. The minute he stepped through the door, I knew that he'd changed. Everything about him was dark and calculating. One night when my gran had been in a deep sleep, he'd suggested we go play hide and seek, in the forest. The naive little me agreed and went on to play, believing her brother was now giving her the attention, she'd longed for.

How wrong was I?

We'd played for a while until exhaustion had hit me, because of the alpha genes, having transformed at an early age, I'd slept in my wolf form.

Cold water prickling through my skin had woken me up, making me all aware that I'd been thrown into the lake. I tried swimming to land but found myself being pushed back down, until my little arms gave out on me and I went underwater. Everything following after that was a blur, but because the vision of what truly happened to me, played in my dreams, I saw it all. I saw my own brother, Ronan, injecting me with wolfsbane and some other substance, telling people that I was sick and having Michael's doctor friend, announce to everyone that I had contacted my mother's sickness.

Time and time again, they slowly killed my wolf, until I felt that she was actually gone. I had no time to grasp that fact nor grieve because I fell right into a month long coma.

Waking up, things had changed. Ronan was cold and distant, Michael was nowhere to be found and my grandmother, oh my sweet grandmother didn't feel well, but she never showed it to many. I felt it, her emotions. My senses were ten times sharper and I could detect anything wrong, not to mention the things I'd speak.

My grandmother did her best to shield me away from eyes and keep me hidden while she tried creating normalcy for me. We thought we were the only one's who knew about me but no, Michael did and he tried his best to meddle in my life, luckily enough, Ronan was always in the way as if he somehow knew Michael's agenda.
