Athena's point of view:
I walked into the main building and felt my eyes widen as I noticed a younger guy struggling against a zombie. I grabbed my gun out of its holster and aimed. "Watch out!" I called out before firing the gun. The bullet went straight through its head, which caused the guy to just let the zombie fall down to the ground. He reached for the gun in his holster and pointed it at me. I sighed.
"Who in the hell are you??" He inquired. "This is the thanks I get for saving you? Bummer." I sighed. "And if anything, you should be the one answering my questions. After all, you're clearly not from around here." I pointed out. His eyes narrowed. "How would you know that?" He questioned. "Anyone who survived the outbreak was once staying here. So for someone to show up wearing RPD gear is quite odd." I pointed out.
He sighed. "Name's Leon Kennedy." He admitted as he lowered his gun. "It was supposed to be my first day a few days ago. I decided to come and see what was happening here, but... I just got caught here." He explained. "Well, that's unfortunate luck," I admitted. "I'm Athena Blake." I introduced. "I've lived in Raccoon city for a few years now, so when the outbreak happened, I rushed here," I explained.
"Wait, you're a civilian??" He questioned. "Mhm." I agreed. "Do you happen to know what's going on here??" He questioned. "No idea," I admitted. "No one knows how or why these zombies were created. All any of us know was one day they just... Showed up. Started attacking townspeople, and caused mass chaos." I explained. "Dammit..." He mumbled. "Now if you'll excuse me I have to get going. You'll learn that standing in one place for too long leads you nothing but pain and death." I explained as I turned around.
"If I were you, I'd do what everyone else is and try to find a way o-" I started. "Wait, wait where are you going??" He questioned. "I literally just said do what everyone else is doing and look for a way to leave." I pointed out as I started walking. "Don't you have other survivors with you?? You said all survivors came here." He pointed out. I stopped and glanced at him. "Look around at how many zombies there are. Do you really think there were always this many zombies?" I inquired. I sighed.
"Even from the start, people were being picked off one by one. First, it was like 200 people here, and each day that number would go down. Now... I don't believe there are any more survivors." I admitted. "The people I was with got split from me maybe half an hour before I ran into you. I don't really know if they are alive or not, but there isn't much to do other than keep going." I explained.
"I... Oh. I'm... Sorry." He apologized. I rose an eyebrow. "What are you apologizing for?" I questioned. "It's not like any of this was your fault." I pointed out. "Now I really have to keep moving. This place isn't safe." I pointed out. "Can we team up?" He inquired. "Huh?" I questioned. "I said can we team up? You seem to know a lot about this place, and about the zombies. I'm working with someone I just met to find a way out of here, so maybe you can help. That way we can all escape in one piece." He suggested.
"You're very positive for an outcome like that." I pointed out as I turned to him. I studied his face for a moment before sighing. "Fine." I agreed. "But I hope you know what you're doing when it comes to fighting. Seeing you tussle with that zombie wasn't a good first impression." I pointed out as I started walking again. He followed. "I promise I am. I've been doing alright." He reassured.
"That zombie just came out of nowhere." He admitted. I laughed. "Yeah, they do that. That's why you have to be observant though." I explained. "You were lucky that wasn't a mutation or a dog." I pointed out. "A mutation?" He repeated. "Mhm. No one's sure why, but there are some mutations of the zombies. They're... Worse." I admitted. "Faster, stronger, and overall just a pain in the ass to kill," I explained.
"Jesus Christ..." He whispered. "I know right?" I agreed. "So you said there was another person helping you. Where are they?" I inquired. "Well... I ran into them at a nearby gas station, and we decided to drive into the city once we found out all this was happening. We... Had a small car accident with some guy in a truck, and we got split by both fire and zombies." He explained. "I've run into her once, and she's trying to find a way in." He explained.
"Well let's hope she's alive by the time she makes it in," I stated. "Also why would you come deeper into the city? You saw the zombies, so why?" I inquired. "I... Needed to find out what was happening, and if there was any way I could help. But so far... I've only found two people who have stayed alive." He admitted. "Anyone else who I've met is... Dead now." He admitted. "Oh? So you did run into some other people?" I inquired.
"Only two. The first guy was named Elliot, and... He was trying to escape a horde of zombies but got stuck under one of those metal doors. I tried to pull him through... However, the zombies got to him first. It... Was quite a messy sight." He explained. I sighed. "Well that explains what happened to one of them.." I mumbled. "What?" He inquired. "Nothing." I denied. "The second person I ran into was in the main hall. His name was Marvin, and he had been bitten by a zombie." He explained.
"Marvin??" I repeated as I glanced at him. He nodded. "Know him?" He repeated. "That's... One of the people who got separated from me." I admitted. I sighed. "This really has just turned into a shit show, hasn't it?" I questioned. "Yeah, it has..." He agreed. "Why don't you seem sad about Marvin?" He inquired. "No time to be sad." I pointed out. We walked into the main hall and I peeked downstairs. My eyes saddened slightly as I noticed... Marvin.
"Couldn't kill him, huh?" I questioned. "No... No, I couldn't." He admitted. I glanced down at my gun and sighed. "I've met a lot of people who want to be killed once they turn into a zombie, and Marvin was one of them..." I admitted. "So the least I could do is put him down," I admitted. "You've done it before?" He inquired. "A few times, yes." I agreed. "Never gets easier though," I admitted as I pointed the gun at him. Leon glanced away as I pulled the trigger. The sound echoed through the room as his head exploded, and as he fell down dead. "This is all so fucked up..." Leon whispered. "Tell me about it." I agreed. "But... If you are right about finding a way out... Then... There's hope it'll end." I admitted.
