Chapter ~1

Today was the day I was dreading most this summer.  My family and I were leaving to go to Florida and my mom was making me go because I am leaving to go to college in two weeks.  I cannot wait to get out of this house and be free in college and not have someone worrying about me all the time.

I looked at my phone and saw my mom texted me that we were leaving soon to catch our flight. I rolled out of bed and threw on some leggings and a Champion hoodie with some Nikes. I put my hair in a bun and grabbed my luggage and went downstairs. I did not have the energy to put makeup on or anything. I wanted this trip to end as soon as possible.

"Jesus Bree. Wanna be a little slower next time?" my brother, Tyler, sarcastically said. Sometimes I wish I could just mute him. I rolled my eyes and headed into the car.

"Aren't you guys excited?!" my mom yelled. I looked at her and fake smiled. I wish I was spending my last two weeks home with my friends. My step dad was all happy this morning which was a surprise, usually he's in a pissy mood. I put my headphones in as soon as I could get sucked into a conversation with them because it would not end well.

My brother is a year younger than me, so he's about to be a senior in high school. But the catch is that he is on the varsity baseball team and has amazing grades. Me on the other hand am not so great at school or athletics, so my parents cherish him as much as possible. He thinks he's better than me so we don't get along.

The car ride went by pretty fast as well as the flight. It was only a couple hours long and I slept most of the way. We landed in Orlando and it was sunny and 88 degrees. We were staying at a hotel near Disney World, but I am not sure if we are going yet. Hopefully not because its a place full of happiness, yet my family does not bring that wherever they go.

We got to our hotel room finally and I laid on my bed.

"Bree we are going to the pool. Do you want to join us?" my mother was eager to go  do stuff.

"No I'll just stay here." I really wasn't going to, but I'd rather do something on my own. They left as soon as I said that, so I put my bathing suit on and walked down to the beach.

I kept checking my phone and kept seeing all of these stories of my friends back home drinking and having fun and I was wishing I was there to experience that with them.

I walked out of the hotel and down to the beach. I stepped into the warm sand and found a spot to lay my towel down. I put my head phones in and started listening to my playlist. I see a group of boys playing volleyball that look about my age. I would go up to them if I was that ballsy, but I am definitely not. I put my sunglasses on and laid down.

All of a sudden I feel the pain of a volleyball smacking me right in the head. I immediately shot up and yelled, "What the hell!". One of the boys came running towards me. He was tall, tan, and brunette. He was very attractive, but this was not the time to flirt.

"I am so sorry. God, I feel like a dumbass. Totally my fault." He said.

"It's fine I guess, but you'll have to make it up to me."

"And how will you do that?" I smiled.

"Well if you give me your number, I'll make sure to let you know." He smirked. He handed me his phone and I typed my number in. "I'll text you..uh", he looked down at his phone, "Bree."

As he started to walk away I yelled, "Wait! What's your name?''

"Cameron!" he yelled back and then continued his game.

I got butterflies just looking at him. Maybe this family vacation won't be so bad after all.
