Twas a night when the wind howled and the pouring rain hit every spot on the dark street corners. The pavement seems to be freshly painted as it was wet. The lamp post set a few feet away on the side seems to flicker every time the lightning struck. There were shadows far in front, moving closer and closer. Then, with a crash of lightning the human-shaped figures were gone. The scene zooms in on the ground with a single red rose resting upon a pool of fresh red blood, glistening against the almost fake looking moon.

'Fire! Fire!' someone screamed. My head pounded as I accidentally breathed in the heavy smoked air inside my enclosed bedroom. My vision blurred as I hurried over to grab the wet towel I just soaked in the sink and wrapped it around my nose and mouth.

I could feel the stinging sensation in my eyes as tears overflowed onto my face. I decided I would have to jump out the window because a fiery path of fire basically cut me off from the door, and there was no way I could go through that. I grabbed my bed sheets and tied a death knot onto the bed post. I tied other blankets, anything I could find to connect it with the first sheet and threw it out the window. With a last look around my room, I grabbed the blue little crystal I wore with me all my life as a good luck charm and jumped out, holding the sheets tightly to my body as i climbed down slowly.

As I reached the ground, I looked up and saw that the whole building complex was on fire. The feeling of dread crawled up within me as I stared at the burning building.

Where are my parents? I'm pretty sure they would have made it out. Unlike me, they were in the living room of our apartment, it would have been easier to run out and down the stairs.

How did the fire start? I wondered. I was sleeping in my room until I was awaken by the shouting of people. Did someone purposely start the fire? I mean, I knew that my family was never just normal, my parents were people who were considered to be always in hiding. From when I was small, we moved from place to place, without staying longer for a few months. Did they finally find us? The people we were always running from?

I took a last look at the blue crystal I was clutching close to my chest and I saw the ground closing in and then darkness.

'My lord, it has been finished'

The tall figure appeared out of the darkness, but covered by the black cloak, he seemed to be darker than night itself. Even the stars would be frightened by him. The servant who spoke to him cowered back as he glanced down at him. The man then held out a gloved hand and bent down.

'No! No! Please! Don't hurt me. I swear, I will give you anything that you want. You can even take my blood if you want to. Just don't kill me... please' the woman whined while crouched on the ground.

The man smirked slightly, showing his fangs and said,

'So, what if I wanted your body, hmm?'

'Of course! I already told you, you can do anything as long as you don't kill me' The woman nervously laughed.

'I see,' the man said, getting closer to her and caressed her face slightly. The woman, closing her eyes, whimpered at his touch.

The man then stood up, then said to the servant from before,

'Finish this for me please, I will head back to the estate first.'

'Are you sure you don't want any of us to accompany you back, my lord?'

'No Louis, I will be fine on my own' the man chuckled darkly. Then, to the confused woman he spoke softly,

'Dear, please, don't be afraid now.'

The woman seemed to sense what was happening, but it was too late.

Her scream echoed into the dark and hollowed night as the hooded man left, boots reverberating against the pavement, disappearing into the darkness.
