The Dragon and the Princess

Chapter 1*

Natsu sat up, heart pounding and sweating, with tears in his eyes. He had that dream again. The one about Lucy. Was she okay? He was worried; he had to check on Lucy. He got out of bed, hoping Happy wouldn't wake up, and walked silently out of their little cottage.

Natsu walked around the big oak tree in the front yard and ran until he was a few houses away from Lucy's. He walked under her window, and started climbing up the stone wall. He peered in, and saw Lucy sound asleep. She was okay. Natsu jumped down with a soft thud, and walked home. It was okay. She was safe.

When he got back, he tried to go to sleep, but failed. Natsu sat for a while, thinking about the guild, and how he couldn't show his worry or fatigue to them, especially not Lucy. Soon he sat up, and walked to the wall he put all of his jobs on. "First job I did with Lucy!" It said next to one. Next to the wall was a box, and in the box was one sheet of paper, hidden away from the world. On the sheet of paper was information for a mission that they did with Gray and Erza too. The important part was in his own handwriting, and it said "The mission that I realized I have feelings for Lucy". As Natsu was closing the box, he saw the tiniest bit of sunlight coming from the open window, and heard Happy waking up.

"Where were you last night?" Happy sounded worried.

"I went for a walk" he replied. It wasn't completely true though. He left out the part about the dream, and going to Lucy's. Natsu got dressed while he was thinking about this, and Natsu and Happy walked to the guild in silence.
