'Sarah, are you ignoring me?'
I sighed as I looked at Dean's message. I completely forgot he called.
'No, sorry I didn't text you back yesterday. I was pretending I didn't see it and ended up actually forgetting.' I hurriedly typed and put my phone away just as Mr. Crooks entered the class.
"It's Friday!" He exclaimed cheerfully. "Only 30 more years of working!" He continued in the same tone and the class chuckled.
I looked beside me. "Where are the others?" Mia looked up from her notebook and pointed at our Calculus teacher. "Like he said, it's Friday. The term party is tonight. Asher and Kevin are running late because they stayed up all night preparing." She said and went back to randomly flicking through her notes.
The rest of the class went by quickly. Neither our teacher nor any of us were in any mood to study today. Weekend around the corner was definitely a reason, but the blissful tenor of the class had more to do with today's weather. There was a subtle coldness in the air, gloomy but clear sky, and it was all around a very romantic climate. The next class was Miss Jones' and she and Mr. Crooks shared an anything-but-subtle glare as she entered the room and he left. I figured Liv was skipping again and Evie fell asleep in her last class.
"Don't you just hate it when you arrive at work and realize you have forgotten to bring your will to live?" She glumly asked to no one, and with a sigh started the lecture, leaving me thinking how alike she was to her ex.
It was 10 minutes later when Liam strutted in and she exhaled harshly. "What happened today?" She asked him. He ruffled his hair. "My grandma got ran over by a reindeer." He told her and she narrowed her eyes at him. "We are not in Europe or North America." She said and he shrugged. "It surprised us too." He replied and Miss Jones sighed, waving at him to take his seat.
I looked at Mia and she held up a finger to her lips. "Just let it be. Liam is weirder than my family members and that's saying something, especially when it's coming from me. Speaking of which-" She dropped her voice even low and leaned in "-my family asked me to invite you to our house when we told them about you." I gave her a confused look and she rolled her eyes. "They know all our friends except you so they asked us to bring you home for dinner. Or something." She shrugged. "I was thinking we have to do our literature assignment anyways so we can do it at our house. What do you say?"
I smiled at her. "Sounds great. I would need someone to pick me up though. I haven't ever been to that area." I told her and she returned my smile. "I will ask Asher. He seems to like giving you lifts." There was a teasing note to her comment and I grinned back. "He does, doesn't he?" Mia's grin widened and she leaned forward. "Maybe we should warn him about it. People might start thinking he likes you or something." I widened my eyes. "Oh no. We can't have that now. He is the golden boy of Summerwells after all. We have to warn him." We both chuckled lightly till we heard a throat clearing from above us.
Miss Jones didn't even look at us as she said "detention, both of you, after school" and moved ahead. We both shared a look and Mia whispered "Asher is gonna lose it if we are late to party." I nodded because in the few days I have known him, I have come to realize that he has a bit of an obsession with time. Ironic considering how he is late to school today because he didn't want the party to be late.
Guess it's just a matter of importance.

Mrs. Joy was busy talking about the assignment when I noticed Liv and Chase having an intense argument. I say argument but it looked more like Chase trying to rile Liv up and failing.
